on Thursday we walked instead of going to aquasize…
we had breakfast at the Park Cafe where we waited a few moments before getting our table…
I had falafel eggs Benedict without the English muffin and it was very tasty…
after that, we drove over and walked around the outside of the Diversity Gardens on the road which was clear of snow and ice… we went through the Gardens as well where most of the paths were snow free… it was cold, but basically the only frozen things were our fingers, lol… particularly when I was glove-free taking photos…
we enjoyed our half hour walk and are looking forward to more such walks as the weather improves;-)…
haven’t seen them for ages, so it was a wonderful treat;-)…
we caught up and they shovelled part of the driveway for me…
the shovelling was a big job as the driveway hasn’t been cleared for months, but it was a beautiful day… and, in the process, the youngest lost his AirPods… in a white container;-(… we spent quite some time digging through all the snow they had moved but did not find them…
we had Chinese food for supper…I’ve been craving it for a while so that made it especially good…
after supper I dug out a set of earbuds from my collection of ones that don’t fit my ears and gave him those… everyone played on their phones for a while as we chatted before they headed home;-)…
they have become lovely young men, although they still bicker like brothers, lol…
shovelled a path across the upper deck on Sunday morning… that way I was able to adjust the solar motion sensor… the squirrels had tipped it down on their trips back and forth…
it has been many, many, weeks since the deck had been shovelled… and in that time, the sun has frozen a number of layers so it was a bit difficult to get it cleared…
later in the afternoon I noticed that a lot of the remaining snow where I shovelled had melted away… so I made another pass…
this time I left a bit of snow to melt there…
my photos suggest that it looked like this in March of 2021… hard to believe, lol…
we arrived about 10:45 am and it felt like we walked into a wall of moisture… clearly the humidity level has gone up considerably since we were last here…
there were a good number of people in the space, but it didn’t feel crowded…
the waterfall is still spilling into the walkways, but it seemed at a lesser degree…
the plants are visibly growing and are lush and bright, even on a partially overcast day…
they seemed so much happier than on my last visit, when many of them looked like they might not survive…
lots of different flowers blooming throughout both the tropical and Mediterranean biomes…
every walk through the biomes brings something different and interesting… can’t wait to see what future visits will produce…
sun was out and it only felt like -14 Celsius, so I went outside to see about getting rid of the ice that has built up where I stand to get into and out of the hot tub…
ice here seems unusual, but could be because I haven’t cleared the snow on my path to the tub every single time it has snowed, lol…
anyway, I’ve slipped a few times so it felt important to clean it up…
that, of course, meant I had to get into the garage to get the ice chopper… but the good news is that now the doorknob has been removed I can get in via the person door again… so I had to shovel to get there…
once I had the chopper it took a while to get rid of most of the ice as the sun doesn’t shine in this area of the garden;-)… handy tool to get the job done…
was careful not to get too close to where the power cord goes… but, it is done and now safe to get in and out of the hot tub…
this morning I was treated to this lovely view of the sky and moon over the neighbour’s house…
when I get out of bed, the first thing I do is look outside and enjoy whatever I see… sometimes it is the sun coming up through the neighbourhood houses, sometimes a bunny, sometimes it is overcast… just yesterday I saw the first grackle of the season…
I enjoy starting the day intentionally by checking out the sky…
well, it was called a blizzard, but it just felt like a lot-of-snow day, lol… Google tells me we had about two inches…
it looks pretty now that the sun has returned… and everything is very quiet… not sure how long that will last before cars and people take over the street…
hopefully, someone else is going to shovel the sidewalks;-)…
