great anticipation and excitement on Saturday…

we’ve been looking into air conditioner splits, as well as a new air conditioner for a while now…

the current air conditioner hasn’t worked for at least three years, and maybe even five… I can’t remember…

when I had someone in to look at it, they said it was leaking freon and couldn’t be repaired… it has sometimes been very hot upstairs but I managed with a tower fan…

last year I’d been quoted around $5,000 to replace it and that just seemed too much, particularly as the cold air never really made it upstairs, lol…

we had an HVAC person in the other day and the splits just weren’t going to work here… before moving forward with a new air conditioner, they suggested trying to get the old one working… they came back on Saturday to see if they could get the old one going…

they were here for a couple of hours and got it working😁😆😄…

the problem was the virginia creeper which had wound its way around the motor… I guess the other company was just wanting me to purchase a new air conditioner…

it is recording 13 something and the optimum is 20, so that sounds quite wonderful to me…

my housemate is going to be exceedingly happy…

went to a new place to get my hair cut on Friday… the place I’d been going to for years closed recently… I was disappointed because it was close and a nice walk to get there, and there was lots of parking if I had to drive…

today I went to Top End Studio Inc. it is one block up and three streets over, so even closer;-)…

had a lovely experience… the owner is very personable and did a great job cutting my hair…

I am excited that they use elumen and have an appointment scheduled for August to get purpled again, woohoo…

had a lovely lunch at Gather with my adventure buddy… our server, Nicky, was very helpful…

I had the French toast, with a side of bacon…

my buddy enjoyed the mushroom toast…

she also enjoyed the Basque Cheescake
with Strawberry, mint, delivered by Brian, the new GM…

after the delicious lunch, we had a wander through the Gardens at The Leaf…

always happy to find another view of The Leaf;-)…

after my shift at The Leaf on Friday, I headed over to the zoo to go to the Volunteer Centre…

it was very hot out and it had been hot in The Leaf as well… the car was boiling, lol…

I was excited to get my one year as a volunteer pin;-)…

I now have four pins, one for working at The Leaf, one for being a volunteer, and one to let visitors know that I’m trained to assist those with Hidden Disabilities… that last one is a bright yellow sunflower…

and now the one year as a volunteer pin;-)…

recently I went clothes shopping with one of my buddies…

it started in the garden when our group gathered for our first outdoor visit of the season…

she had purchased some items and had taken them home to try on and discovered they didn’t fit… I fell in love with a top and pants, tried them on, and bought them from her on the spot…

then I went with her to the store so she could return others and we both had a lovely time…

she found a few things she’d been searching for, and I picked up two pairs of shorts and two very nice summer tops…

excellent day;-)…

Monday morning it was warm and sunny, so we went plant shopping…

two different places and many plants purchased…

this year I’ve decided to go with fewer varieties, but more of them…

in the end I chose petunias, salvia, and fuchsia…

added a few creeping phlox to go with what I already have, as well as three different varieties of hostas…

finished up with a few vegetables…

pleased that I was able to stick to the plan…

now, they are all laid out in the spots where they will go and will be planted before too long…

I was using Lawnman (not loving the name, lol) to keep the grass fertilized and dandelion free…

have used them for a number of years and they have been excellent…

recently received a letter in the mail advising they’d been taken over by Eco Green…

they called a few days ago to advise they were coming to apply fertilizer and weed control… which they provide as a liquid mix… but the weed control they use will destroy clover…

as we are mixing clover with the grass in the backyard, it means we can’t have this put down as it will kill clover…

the previous company did feeding and weed control as two separate applications…

so I asked about a lower price as they would only be doing the front yard now…

I was advised that I had only being charged for the front yard previously, which was news to me as they had been doing the fertilizing in the backyard all along… not impressed:-(…

so, I guess this will be the last year for that service…

walked to and from the Park for lunch on Thursday…

happy to see the new design and menu items and so pleased to meet up with a wonderful friend and spend some quality time together;-)…

the place looks great, with more greenery and comfortable chairs that move much easier… the space seems more open… didn’t even realize that the kitchen was no longer visible…

the menu looked much classier than the previous version and my falafel plate was excellent, as always…

my friend had the eggs Benedict which was also tasty…

the fried potatoes with onions was not a favourite…

we watched adult geese wander the paths with their numerous babies as we enjoyed our meal…

the other day I picked up a hanging basket that was “free” because we spent a zillion dollars on groceries, lol…

the plan is to use it in the front planter beside the door as it had lots of plants and flowers flowing down the sides…

brought it out of the garage today to get a bit of sun because it still isn’t warm enough for it to go into the pot, lol…

while it was sitting out, a lovely big bumblebee stopped by for some pollen…

it buzzed around the various flowers for quite a few minutes before heading off to find other treats…

what a great start to the day…

last week I bought a lovely scarf at The Leaf…

today, while I was working my shift at the Mediterranean Biome exit spot, I watched a woman unfold a purple t-shirt in the Gift shop which is just outside the exit and perfectly in my view, lol…

so at the end of my day, I went and found one for me…

it is lovely and I know I will enjoy wearing it this summer;-)…

I may have to stop looking through those doors, lol…

a bit later, after I got home, a friend stopped by with a delicious piece of cake… we’d talked earlier in the week about this exact dessert… a lovely treat and visit…

I did share it with my housemate;-)…
