while preparing for my trip and dealing with the concern that my credit card had been compromised, I had contacted my credit union to get information on amounts that could be charged using debit… they were very helpful in providing what I needed to know and also said they could produce a card through their system… for years, I’ve only had one card which is used for all purchases… so an issue like this was a fairly big deal, lol…

once home from my trip, I contacted the credit union and applied for one of their credit cards…

the person on the phone filled out all the required paperwork and advised within a few hours that I’d been approved for the card…

they were so helpful, easy to talk to, and described things clearly…

what a gift😊…

in August, a charge was made on my credit card from Amazon Kids+ for under $12, which apparently was for a subscription…

neither I, nor my housemate, had made such a purchase, so I called the credit card people who advised that I could not dispute the charge until it moved from pending to posted…

no matter how I explained that we hadn’t made such a purchase, they seemed focused on refuting the claim…

for me it was more about whether someone was phishing to see if my card worked😳…

I advised I was going to be away and wanted to know what to do about the card… eventually I gave up talking with them… this is the first time I found them less than helpful…

I went to the actual bank my card is connected to, which was very busy… who knew so many people actually went into the bank in the middle of the week👀…

eventually I spoke with a great staff person who was able to help figure out what to do…

so, for the time being, I had to lock my card and then unlock it when I needed to pay for something and then lock it again… rather stressful😣…

I contacted Amazon and was told someone else was using my card, so I should speak to my bank and cancel the card…

I called the bank and, after repeating the same information to two different people, they finally cancelled the card and put another in the mail…

it would make sense to have a spreadsheet with all the places that take money out automatically… guess that will be my next project🥺…

this morning I ran a number of errands…

paid for my house insurance… it had been in both our names, but after my beloved died and they changed it to my name only, the birthdate was still his… cost me more money when I advised that I wasn’t that age, lol…

also changed over my car insurance to have the payments come out of the bank automatically, as MPI has stopped taking the monthly amounts from credit cards…

went to the credit union where they put a cheque in and immediately made a payment onto my credit card… handy, as there was no need to wait any additional time… added a few accounts and discovered that I could send up to $3,000 via eTransfer, although I am still ticked that they charge for that service…

took Indi for a bath, which she really needed as she’s been driven to Kenora twice in the last while and was covered in bugs…

finally picked up a few groceries before heading home… nice to get all that over with…

then there was eating, tv watching and napping…
