had a pedicure, which was a real treat as I haven’t had one since covid… the massage portion was bliss…
received cards, gifts, texts, and numerous phone calls… my kids were trying to see how many times they could sing happy birthday to me throughout the day, lol…
enjoyed the technology that let the Ottawa kids send me presents via Amazon…
treats turned up throughout the day, and a gorgeous bouquet arrived in the afternoon;-)…
dinner was barbecued steak and lobster with asparagus, mushrooms and tiny potatoes prepared by my housemate…
and considering the crazy weather – rain, snow, and bits of sunshine – barbecuing was a gift…
a final touch was a small portion of chocolate mousse;-)…
woke up to a light dusting of snow on the ground and then spent a good portion of the morning at various windows watching the elm tree two doors down being removed…
the gentle thumping of the equipment was like background noise, lol…
there were at least five trucks, plus a small tracker and quite a few workers…
they used a machine I haven’t seen before… it was run from the ground and had a claw that grabbed the branch or trunk and cut through it… then it lowered it to the ground where the tractor picked it up and put the end into the chipper, where another worker turned it on and filled up a truck with the wood chips…
seemed like it was all very safe for those working…
as you drive down the street, it is hard to even tell where they were working…
as I was sitting in the living room watching the new bird feeding station to see if any birds have found it yet, and if the baffle will really stop the squirrels, one of the feeders dropped…
I ran out only to discover that the piece holding the wire to the lid had given way… I looked around but couldn’t find the piece, so now the feeder is sitting in the house as we consider how best to add something to the bottom of the wire, lol…
