tonight I enjoyed some hummingbird drinking chocolate… it was a Christmas gift from my daughter…

I used Almond Milk… made with 70% cacao, it was delicious…

before making it, I reviewed what I had eaten during the day and realized there was room for a bit of sugar;-)…

last week I saw the doctor and heard that my A1C has been creeping up for the last six months… it is at 6.3 but needs to stop rising…

I had loosened my very strict watch over my eating habits to make life a bit more relaxed… I don’t think that was bad, but will tighten up my food intake a bit to see if that can make an improvement to the next test…

so, I am trying to have bread only once a week and dark chocolate a few times a week… on the whole, the rest of my food choices are pretty good… we will see how this goes…

life sure is a journey, lol…

yesterday I wandered around the house taking pictures of the flowers that I found…

there were some in the living room…

some on the dining room table…

and finally, some in the bedroom;-)…

that is really what I like to see…

as mentioned many times previously, flowers make me happy;-)…

a colleague advised she had to pick up this magnet for me recently, lol… she also took this shot…

and a close-up of one of the bouquets, that just happened to be purple…

this is my 2000th blog post…

seems like forever since that December day when I signed in to WordPress to see how it worked… and wrote the first post… that was five years, five months and eight days ago…

over time I came to the decision that I would post something every day… and since I made that choice, have managed to accomplish that goal…

I have written about many of the processes that were involved to finish and close an estate, daily struggles and small steps in my new journey as I wear those big girl pants…

it has been cathartic…

every day is a new adventure…

tonight after work I met up with my kids downtown and we had dinner together before they attended the #wpgwhiteout party and I headed home…

on the way there they had stopped in at the Jets store to pick up some white Jets t-shirts and I think a hoodie or two, lol…

I did feel conspicuous walking to the restaurant without wearing some piece of Jets clothing, lol… good thing I had white capris on and a black and white top…

the youngest asked his mom if I’d be going to the #whiteoutparty as well and she advised there were “way too many people for grandma to go” and she was absolutely correct…

just getting from the restaurant back to the office and the car had me sweating and people were just starting to arrive… thankfully my son-in-law walked with me…

my daughter sent me this shot of the crowd around them…

when I flipped my Chihuly calendar to May, I was reminded of our wonderful visit to the Atlanta Botanical Garden a few years ago to see the Chihuly Installations…

the picture is a tower and reminded me of the tall yellow one where we had a picture taken by some people walking by, lol… my daughter had taken a few pictures for them just before that… it was also one that lit up at night…

I dug through old photos and found a few of my favourites from that trip…

the goddess was the reason for the trip and we spent a fair bit of time at that installation…

of all of Chihuly’s pieces, I am always most drawn to the blues… from the very first ones I saw at Chihuly Garden and Glass… here is a blog I wrote about that amazing experience…

spent my day basically in three spots…

on a lounge chair, beside the hot tub, reading…

on the couch in the living room with flowers on the table, reading as well…

on the bed, reading, napping, and watching some PVRed shows, track and field and skateboarding…

in between I did manage to make three meals… a fruit smoothie; egg salad on toast with fresh veggies; steak with mushrooms and sweet potato baked fries…

also chatted with my daughters and a couple of my grandsons…

a rather wonderful relaxing day, lol…

this morning I went for breakfast at the “A” with my grandson which was a lovely treat…

as we walked there he mentioned something about my having an opportunity to ride in a police car…

it reminded me that I had ridden in the back of a police car when they came to the door and drove me to the hospital when George died…

I don’t really want to do that again;-(…

there are still many days when the loss seems so fresh…

later in the day I spent some time in the garden… first opportunity to enjoy the warmth and sunlight… starting to look pretty good after the work done this week…

a squirrel came right up beside me while I was quietly reading in the sunshine…

still need the pond cleaned, the pump installed and the beds tidied…

nearly forgot to wear white to work this morning…

we had decided to take a photo of everyone in Jets gear… three staff members brought various pieces of clothing for those who didn’t have any…

it was quite a collection… there were jerseys, t-shirts, jackets, scarves, towels, hats, a coverall and even a white pompom…

part of the fun was deciding what worked best for each of us, lol… some of the jerseys were quite large…

while that was happening I found a great picture to put up on our tv…

once we were all dressed up we took a number of photos…

and got a few great shots… fun to be part of the #wpgwhiteout…

feeling as though I haven’t been eating properly… so tonight I baked a chicken leg and thigh, with eggplant slices, and sweet potatoes… and made a cucumber and onion salad…

was rather pleased with myself… and it was very good…

after supper I peeked outside and saw this lovely sky…

not long before that the sky had been gray and rain had been falling… nice change…

very happy that a young friend had come by on Monday and raked the yard for me… still lots to do, including putting the six bags of leaves out for pick-up…

a bit of rain would certainly be good for the grass and the plants…

today I got to drive my new car to work for the first time…

flowers were the first thing that got carried in the car… how lovely is that;-)…

I’ve been contemplating her name for a while now… depending on the light the colour moves from blue to purple…

spent some time checking out purple-ish names… had fourteen on my list but the ones that resonated the most were

amethyst – orchid – periwinkle – indigo

in the end Indigo was the winner… it is described as a colour between blue and purple…

she will go by Indi;-)… suits her…
