recently had a conversation with my neighbour… she talked about her set of tools… her husband has a garage full of tools…
it made me think of the tools in my kitchen drawer… my beloved also had a garage and basement filled with tools but it was never clear where the particular item was when it was needed, lol…
because of that, I started to gather my own set… a pink multi set screwdriver, a hammer, and a pair of pliers… a pink screwdriver was very obvious and I always knew where it was, and even when he used any of my tools, he knew to put them back…
full disclosure, I may have tidied that portion of the drawer for the photo, lol…
I know other women who have their own set of tools as well… here are a few of theirs…
now, I have a garage with other tools that I am learning to use… and they go back after each use…
while he was here, my son-in-law searched online for a spring for the patio door to replace the one which had broken ages ago…
he found one, ordered it, and it arrived on Friday, well after he left for home… there were no instructions, but I figured out how it should work…
it came with stickers to hold it to the wall and door, but they wouldn’t work for my situation…
I dug out two screws that were just the right size… from all the containers in the garage, lol… then I found a drill bit to start the holes so the wood wouldn’t split…
used the sticker as a template and made the holes… then was able to get the screws in and the hook as well…
it is working well, although it makes quite a slamming noise when it closes, so I will have to get used to that;-)…
took this shot from the side garden the other day…
it brought to mind how that garden has looked over the years…
it used to be a shade garden and my beloved would wander into it and weed all the time…
after he died the tree that provided the shade was taken down… I ignored this space and for a number of years it was basically a weed patch, yikes…
once Hilda the Gardener came it started to improve and over the last few years we have focussed on it a bit more, lol…
last year we added the file cabinet raised bed and it has worked beautifully…
I am now looking for a garden arch trellis that will go from the raised bed to the wall of the house… it will give the peas and cucumbers a better place to grow on…
I think it will be a great addition once I find it, hopefully by spring…
last Saturday, after I got home from dropping my son-in-law at the airport, I wrestled the mattress upstairs … it was on the pullout couch while he was here to make it more comfortable for him…
that returned the den to normal…
Sunday I lay a comforter on the bed, got the mattress on top and secured the four corners… then I was able to move the bed away from the wall and slip the mattress behind it…
sounds a lot easier than it actually was, lol…
pleased with the results and rather proud that I did it on my own…
my son-in-law completed a ton of big projects while he has been here from Ottawa…
a couple of the littlest ones have made me particularly happy…
I have had an extension cord and a single plug laying on the counter next to the stove and it was a pain… now there is a surge protector held up with 3M strips on the wall… so much tidier and more useful…
in the rolling cabinet that my beloved made, the tracks for the sliding doors kept falling down… now some 3M strips are holding them up where they belong…
