the new arch has already produced enough purple beans for a meal;-)…
this makes me very happy as the tomatoes and beans in the side garden are doing nothing 😔…
I topped and tailed them, and then cut them into bite-sized pieces…
as they boiled, of course the colour dissipated, and they turned into green beans…
but, they were delicious and I enjoyed every last one…

the plants on the new arch are just taking off…
the morning glories have just begun to climb up along the deck side and I am hoping for many flowers before too long…
the other side has a number of plants growing… cucumbers and beans, including scarlet runners…
I am hoping they might invite the hummingbirds to the garden…
I may have planted too many🤪…

ordered a second arch a week or so ago when I noticed it was on sale for half price…
it arrived a few days ago and sat there staring at me, lol…
Wednesday afternoon, as the weather was nice, I finally spent the time to put it together… feel like a pro now, after the springtime attempt to put it together;-)…
my grandson managed to set it in place right next to the other one…
next year I will focus on beans, cucumbers, and peas, as well as a ton of morning glories to grow right over it;-)…

on Saturday I took a photo of the veggie garden arch…
I’ve taken lots, but haven’t felt they were just right…
finally I figured out that I should take one from the front yard, lol…
looks pretty… maybe next year I won’t have the beans growing across the top, where I can’t reach them, lol…

had a bit of fun in the garden Monday…
there was a chill in the air, but we were able to install the arch in the side garden, and then I put up the trellises on the planter boxes…
the arch fits perfectly and it will be exciting to see what will grow up and over the path;-)…
while I was outside I managed to get the slinky back on the bird feeder pole and flipped the water barrel over…
started the day planting some tomato seeds and trying again with the datura, which hadn’t started a single sprout…
we will see if there are any sprouts this time… maybe one day it will be warm enough to plant outside, lol…

took all the pieces of the arch out onto the deck and finished putting it together…
tightened all the screws and voila… done…
it looks very tall, and should work perfectly… sure hope it fits…
had to lay it down as the wind was picking up and I didn’t want it to fall over before it made it to its new home, lol…
still waiting for the last of the snow to melt so we can try it out…

took this shot from the side garden the other day…
it brought to mind how that garden has looked over the years…
it used to be a shade garden and my beloved would wander into it and weed all the time…
after he died the tree that provided the shade was taken down… I ignored this space and for a number of years it was basically a weed patch, yikes…
once Hilda the Gardener came it started to improve and over the last few years we have focussed on it a bit more, lol…
last year we added the file cabinet raised bed and it has worked beautifully…
I am now looking for a garden arch trellis that will go from the raised bed to the wall of the house… it will give the peas and cucumbers a better place to grow on…
I think it will be a great addition once I find it, hopefully by spring…
