on Monday, I made a toasted tomato and bacon sandwich, with a tomato from a friend…
it was delicious and reminded me of my beloved…
he made the most delicious tomato sandwiches…
I couldn’t figure out why they were so delicious… at some point I realized that he used a ton of Miracle Whip…
but, my oh my, they were mouthwatering…

went for a drive with my adventure partner…
drove just outside the city to Jonathan’s Farm to collect the veggies we both ordered online…
it was a sunny day and the drive was relaxing…
there was no one around when we arrived although I spotted someone in the field way down the way, lol…
we gathered up our produce and headed home…
the one thing we noticed was all the crazy drivers on the road, lol… Friday and everyone was in a hurry to get somewhere 🤪…
looking forward to some delicious meals…

spotted the Farmers Market by Foodfare on our way home last Saturday, so popped in to see what they had… and there were cloth vegetable bags in the car;-)…
picked up pickling cucumbers (my favourite), tiny red potatoes, a cabbage, and a cauliflower…
I keep forgetting that this market is here…
then for my lunch I had some cucumbers, cherry tomatoes from a friend, avocado, and a bit of cheese… yum…
what a treat;-)…

had a wonderful day Monday…
it was overcast but I put out all the cushions and set up the chairs for the afternoon gathering with my buddies…
then I sat quietly in the garden as a sweet little hummingbird flew around gathering nectar from a few flowers… it particularly liked one of the hanging baskets that has deep purple flowers… it came and went a number of times before heading off to its next destination…
of course I didn’t have the camera out so the photos I got with my phone were pretty bad, lol…
after lunch my friends arrived and we had a great visit together… these days I make suntea and we always have pistachios as a snack, maybe with some chocolate;-)…
once everyone left, I followed the shade around the garden, enjoyed my book and the visit from one of my bunny friends…
I am certainly savouring these beautiful days in the garden…

drove out to Dugald on Thursday to pick up some roasting chickens from a new place – Hoogies Ranch…
it was a lovely drive and the weather vacillated between sun and cloud…
besides two dogs wandering the yard, these cute barn cats were very friendly…
so far, we’ve had one of the chickens and it was delicious… there was lots for supper, a chicken salad is in my future, and chicken vegetable soup with dumplings has been requested;-)…
I’m sure we will order from them again…

Monday I cleaned up after supper…
the deal is whoever makes supper doesn’t have to clean up…
so, I was happy to be doing the dishes;-)…
had a delicious meal of shrimp, red pepper, and Shanghai noodles with a delightful sauce…
the food was prepared while I relaxed and watched some tv…
what a treat;-)…

one of the projects that has been in the works was to replace the cutting board in the kitchen…
many weeks ago, the board was cut to the right size… it was a little thick and needed to be sanded a bit…
time went by… then it was sanded, but needed to be oiled… the oil was purchased…
it finally got two layers of oil and made its way into the slot under the counter…
looks amazing;-)… maybe too pretty to cut on, lol…

this little red squirrel bounces around the garden like crazy, along with some other friends…
usually I don’t mind, but a few days ago I had to clean two chairs and a table from where their little paw prints covered everything, after the previous night’s rain, lol…
they are currently jumping onto the chair, then the table, and launching onto the bird feeder…
after wiping the chairs, I had to wait for them to dry before putting on the cushions… I’d cleaned up quite a bit of the mess, before I thought to take these photos…

on Saturday I took a photo of the veggie garden arch…
I’ve taken lots, but haven’t felt they were just right…
finally I figured out that I should take one from the front yard, lol…
looks pretty… maybe next year I won’t have the beans growing across the top, where I can’t reach them, lol…

for whatever reason I didn’t end up planting some sad looking cherry tomatoes I had in the kitchen till very late…
but look at them now;-)…
expect they will be red before you know it… and I can hardly wait…
