last night we celebrated my beloved who departed fourteen years ago…

as always, some days it seems like yesterday, and others so long ago…

hamburgers and floats were eaten here and via the internet…

so thankful to have family around for these celebrations;-)…

eventually I decided on Kraft Dinner… hadn’t had any in ages, but had a box in the pantry;-)…

it was delicious and just what I needed…

thinking back to Tuesday’s pancake supper…

besides the lovely pancakes, I made a potato pancake with the last little bit of batter to which I added a shredded potato…

topped it with sour cream and a slice of bacon…

this continues to be my favourite pancake;-)…

as I was waiting for my ride to the pool for aquasize, I took a few photos…

this one is the Inukshuk in a circle in the snow… I need to find another piece of limestone to finish it off better, lol…

then a shot of the snow on the cedar branches at the front door…

we were happy to be going because last week we missed due to the Olympics, lol…

we were in the water for about ten minutes when an alarm went off… we were told to evacuate the pool and then to head to the lounge at the entrance and not to stop for our clothes or other items…

besides our class, there were at least two classes of school kids, as well as those who had been in the gym… quite a few people…

during all that time the alarms were ringing and lights were flashing… after about ten minutes a firetruck arrived and the firefighters headed to the back of the building…

another ten minutes or so went by and finally the lights and ringing stopped…

we headed back to the change rooms, dressed and left the building… as a treat we picked up bagels…

mine was quite delicious;-)…

also meant I made it home in time to watch the women’s free skate…

yesterday morning I started prepping for supper…

I sliced strawberries and then added sugar to macerate them…

later in the day I pulled out the pancake recipe from a well-worn cookbook and got the dry ingredients ready…

once my housemate brought home milk, I finished the mix and started cooking…

microwaved some bacon on the side and whipped the cream…

the first batch of pancakes came out perfectly… mine came from the second batch and may have been a bit darker, lol…

what a delicious dinner;-)…

yesterday morning, I spent a little while wandering around the house and adding in Valentine decorations…

in the living room (adding to the table which I did a few days ago), on the stairs…

in the bathroom, and the den…

on Valentine’s Day, I will make something special for my dinner, not sure what yet… my beloved and I would maybe have had steak and lobster or some special treat…

he was very romantic and always got me a rose and some little present to celebrate the day…

I’m always happy to do a bit of decorating around the house, and then spend time thinking about him on Valentine’s Day… I have been so blessed;-)…

went to Pho Hoang, which was one of our favourites when we used to go to aquasize at Cindy Klassen pool during our working days, lol…

this morning I had an appointment with my doctor for my regular blood pressure check-up, as well as hearing my A1C results…

as we went into the exam room he mentioned to his staff person that I always wear purple, lol…

he started out asking if I had been to Fleurs de Villes and we chatted about that for a few minutes… I wondered why he had asked and finally realized I was wearing one of my Fleurs de Villes t-shirts, lol…

he had to take my blood pressure a few times to get a good reading… I mentioned that my housemate was waiting for me and I was worried he wouldn’t get to work on time, lol…

my A1C had gone down and has been trending downward which made me happy as I feel I am eating in a more normal fashion… he was pleased with that…

we also discussed that those numbers could go as high as 8.1 before it would be a problem as I age… of course, neither one of us plan to let that happen…
