the cutest baby bunny visited the garden as the work was being done in the garden on Monday…

when I went out to the garage yesterday morning to move the plants back outside, I spotted the baby bunny under the table filled with plants…

I opened the overhead door and tried to encourage it to go out, but of course it went the other way… I carried on moving plants and didn’t see it again, but just to be safe I left the side door open for the day…

later I spotted it again outside… it came right up to me beside the garage door… I am sure it wanted to go back in there… I felt bad so I put out a few carrot bits for it…

I was very careful as I put the plants back into the garage to be sure it didn’t get in, lol…

Hilda the Gardener came by today and filled the front planters, a couple of hanging planters on the side of the house, a bed next to the garage, and moved ferns from one area to another…

everything looks great…

there is a threat of frost (for the next three nights), so I have just come in from putting sheets over all of the areas, lol…

excited to see how wonderful it is all going to look;-)…

she also brought me some lilacs, because she knows I love them…

spent the entire day in the garden… nice to enjoy the warmth and sun…

my grandson came over and a contractor friend of his arrived to do some work on the decks… we had arranged the appointment before the newest regulations were out… I was very happy that he wore his mask the whole time he was here…

he fixed a piece of the decking beside the hot tub, which was falling apart… then he tacked up loose boards under the main deck and finally he repaired a loose piece under the gate pergola which is going to make opening the hot tub much easier…

then the two of them made sure that all the lattice along the garage was in the proper spot… it was quite a process and looks so much better now…

after lunch our contractor friend left and my grandson cleaned the pump in the pond, mowed the grass, trimmed up some cedars, and dug out a bunch of flower pots from the shed…

after he left, I moved and rearranged pots, and planted a few items which can go in and out of the garage until the weather warms up…

I am truly blessed…

took a walk around the garden this afternoon to see how everything is doing in this rather chilly and wet weather…

over the winter the bunnies were nibbling on the lilac so I was worried as to whether it would survive… last week I saw a few bits of green on it and today it has tiny buds… yay;-)…

the two morning glories and basil seem to be doing okay… they were the only plants I have left out… although I did read today that basil doesn’t like the cold and may end up stunted, so we will see…

spent a few minutes in the garage to see how all the plants are fairing in there… it isn’t heated, but certainly warmer than the garden, lol…

happy to spot a little morning glory blooming there…

it is supposed to be warmer tomorrow… maybe I will be able to plant a few baskets…

three deliveries yesterday…

another tool from Irwin…

flowers from a fundraiser which my friend picked up and delivered to me…

soil from Hilda the Gardener… which she then added to all the pots and planters;-)…

going to be a busy few days as I decide what will go where;-)… not planning to plant until Sunday after the Saturday night chill…

Monday I used the big clamp on the workbench in the garage…

I couldn’t find the 2×4 that had two nails in it which I made last year to put oranges out, hoping the orioles might stop by… no idea where it is…

so, I put a piece of wood in the clamp and used the drill to add two screws to it;-)…

we shall see if any orioles decide to stop by…

and then I drilled a couple of screws into a few spots in the deck that had come loose…

way to go me…

crazy day today…

no one has been inside my house for weeks and three people were in it today…

nice man from Dynacare to do bloodwork…

my grandson to bring up the toolbox from the basement… he also brought us breakfast, chose tools and discussed a landscaping job that needs to happen in the garden… thankfully we did all of that outside…

and my son-in-law to catch the fish and take them out to the pond… he also repaired the very broken bottom step on the deck so I won’t fall through it, and fixed a rocking bench in the shade garden…

I’m exhausted from all that company, lol…

this morning, as I was reading in the garden, a small skunk darted under the gate from the back lane, along the sidewalk, and out to the driveway…

it was way too quick for a photo, yikes… I had smelled what I thought were coffee grounds when I woke up and wondered where the scent had come from… now I know…

reminded me of the time we were camping and a skunk sauntered through the campsite as we were sitting by the fire…

the girls jumped on top of the picnic table while I sat still as it wandered along under the table, by my feet, and then out of the site…

I thought if it was going to spray us, standing on the table wouldn’t help, lol…

this time I did go and close the garage door so if it came back it wouldn’t go in there…

this morning the plants went out for a breath of fresh air…

I managed to get them all into the shade where they spent most of the day…

so far they look pretty good… hope they are as good in the morning, lol…

I’ve just moved them into the garage for the night and will bring them back outside in the morning…

lovely day in the garden…

read, ate a delicious chowder from Sentruhl and napped…

did not plant anything, although I really wanted to;-)…

thinking I will start to harden off the seedlings tomorrow… I’ve learned that the plants which are growing in the house need to go out a bit longer each day for a week or two, out of the sun and wind, to acclimatize them for the outdoors…

I see lots of lifting and carrying in my future;-)…
