started with an almond croissant and cheese for breakfast… lunch was a delicious chicken, stuffing and cranberry jelly sandwich on La Belle Baguette sourdough bread… ended the day with ham and scalloped potatoes that a dear friend dropped off…
and I made chicken broth from the chicken carcass…
there is still a great variety of leftovers and ready-to-eat items in the fridge;-)…
the doorbell rang again today… second day in a row… I was expecting this one;-)…
it was a delivery of bread, croissants and hotcrossbuns from La Belle Baguette… the hot cross buns were still warm;-)…
I am going to be in trouble with my doctor if I keep eating bread at this rate because it raises my blood sugar… but I had to have a couple of the buns with cheese for my breakfast… very tasty…
then, for supper I made Frenchtoast using the bread knife and board that my beloved and I purchased at Victoria Beach many years ago…
the knife is made for left-handed people and fits into the tray portion of the cutting board… it is very cool…
at least two weeks ago I started to clean out the kitchen junk drawer…
started, as in I took a bunch of stuff out of it and left all of it on the kitchen counter…
finally, today I finished the job… yay…
some things went into my toolbox in the basement… some went into a box to go upstairs to the computer room… and some went back – neatly – into the drawer…
I even tidied up the next drawer, which mainly has my collection of technology in it…
the counter looks much better as well;-)…
happy to have that done, although apparently I wrote about it before, lol… not sure what happened;-)…
along with every other theatre, PTE had to cancel their current and upcoming performances…
we got an email advising that they were going to send us the archive copy of the performance for us to watch… what a kind gesture on their part… it was only available until the last date of the performance…
on Saturday, at 3 pm (the time we would have gone to see the show), my friend and I connected by phone and watched the show together… it was a bit of a giggle because the two computers were just off a touch, so it did sound a bit strange;-)…
I had my snacks ready – two of the shortbread cookies my friend had made for me – and a couple of pieces of Lindt 70% dark chocolate… we often bring a snack to the theatre, lol…
we had a fun time and a good conversation once it was over…
while I was having a visit with my BS buddies, one of them noticed that I had a dryer sheet attached to the back of my shirt… when she took it off, there was a second one as well…
what made it particularly funny was that I had removed two sheets from the sleeves of the shirt in the morning when I got dressed… apparently that particular shirt likes to collect stuff…
I rip the sheets in half and reuse them a number of times which means that there could be a number of them in a load of laundry…
I also went out for lunch… there were no diners behind me and luckily my friend didn’t notice, I hope, lol…
the next day I put on a pair of Spring-looking leggings which I thought I’d worn before… at the end of the day I discovered they had the plastic size information still on the leg…
today commemorates eight years since my beloved left me… he walked with me longer than I walked alone before and since his death…
I miss him… every day and in every way… I have grown so much since that day… and continue to as I move forward…
I’ve been thinking of many of the fun things that we did during our forty-plus years together… from camping in tents and pop-up trailers, to zip lining and riding up a mountain in a chairlift (for 2 people afraid of heights)… from Grand Beach to Goose Spit… from gardening to bathroom renovations… from family meals on the deck to dimsum in restaurants…
this morning I received a parcel from the kids in Ottawa… 3 cute plants in a wooden box… a great addition to the forest, lol…
the outdoors looked stunning after a night of snow, but the delivery person had to make a path to get to the door…
also received some earbuds in the mail that I had ordered from our AirMiles account, so it was like a gift from my beloved… took me a while to figure out how to connect them…
made steak, potatoes and mushrooms for my dinner… he would have grilled it, but I cooked it in the oven, lol…
I was looking through some albums recently and came across this photo from Christmas…
it was an ornament on one of my daughter’s presents… a family tradition has been to give an ornament to each person on one of their gifts…
made me think of all the love signs around the house which I have put out for the month…
there are hearts all over the place… in the kitchen, bathroom, dining, living room, bedroom… and on the stairway…
these two hearts are within eyesight in the bedroom… I bought the purple one, and the wooden one was made by my beloved… he was a very talented craftsperson…
I put up some pictures of the various hearts when I wrote this post… I enjoy seeing them and will leave them up for the month…
February is also HeartandStroke month… a reminder of my beloved, who died just two years after a quadruple bypass…
