I like to use packaged sliced cheese and put two on the first piece of bread to see if I needed three… the two were perfect, so I put the other one away…
next I got an onion, peeled and sliced it on top of the cheese… I added butter to the second slice of sourdough, topped the first and buttered the outside…
put the sandwich in the frying pan and cooked it slowly before turning it over…
came out beautifully…
because the bread was large I proceeded to cut it into four and was irritated that it wasn’t cutting well…
at which point I realized the plastic was still on the cheese, omg…
took a while to squeeze the cheese out of the plastic and add another piece of cheese (without the plastic) to make up for the cheese that didn’t make it out, lol…
what a wonderful surprise I received this morning;-)…
as I was taking my poached eggs out of the water, I heard the doorbell ring… I was expecting a parcel so wasn’t surprised, but when I opened the door, my daughter was standing in front of me…
she had come to town to attend a concert with one of her friends and had planned to include a day with me;-)…
what a super treat…
we quickly booked a trip to The Leaf so she could see her beloved cacao trees… we had a great time there, checking out the trees, watching the koi, and realizing how much growth has taken place since we were last there together in June…
she was able to get a few nice shots of the koi which she shared with me.
we enjoyed time in the Yasuragi display and read up on all the bonsai, including new ones which hadn’t been there the last time I visited… the stories behind them are very interesting…
spent a few minutes with the butterflies…
it is sad that they are still in the netted enclosure and not flying freely around the space…
one last wander to see the cacao trees and koi, a bit of fun in the gift shop, and then we headed home…
some relaxing time together and then I dropped her off at the airport to head home…
Saturday’s project was to transplant the lemon tree and the fern…
had to run out to the garage to get gloves and into the basement for a pail and spoon, lol…
after a bit of digging and mess-making the two plants were in their new pots, trimmed, fertilized, and watered…
the fern was absolutely jammed into the pot and took quite a bit of work to get it thinned out, cut back and set into its new home…
it was much simpler to put the lemon tree into the larger pot and add some soil… it looks good;-)… I cannot remember when I started this, maybe this spring or last spring, lol…
Friday morning I had an appointment to have my teeth cleaned and only had to wait a few minutes before getting into the chair…
everything went well and I was happy to only pay a tiny piece of the invoice… thanks to the CDCP… I was pleased because previously my dentist had advised they wouldn’t be participating in the program…
I usually don’t eat before my appointment, so on the way home I got a breakfast burrito;-)… yum…
and then I admired my goody bag treats, lol…
I’ve been going to this dentist for years, but still stress before and during the appointment…
when I was cleaning and reorganizing the computer room, I came across a few items that I usually put out around Christmas, but with all the recent turmoil going on, felt like now was the time to bring them out…
one is a white dove that I hung onto the Japanese Maple in the front window…
and the other is a stunning card that a friend got me for Christmas many years ago, which I placed in the dining room where I can see it…
I’ve been spending quite a bit of time thinking of those around me who are dealing with health issues and heavy life events and I am feeling more calm as I gaze upon these…
well, last night, when I went out for a hot tub, I put on my water shoes and toque…
the toque always reminds me of my beloved;-)…
when I’d gone out the night before and climbed up the steps in my bare feet, they were cold;-(…
and so it begins…
I was feeling bad about needing them already, but when I looked at previous times I’d started wearing them it had been towards the end of October, so I guess I shouldn’t be complaining…
