on Saturday brought out the table and worked on filling the planters that go around the deck…

four of the six were filled with purple and white petunias and alyssum…

the two in the centre have pansies, lobelia and alyssum…

it was fun and I enjoyed the time…

there are still three on the north side that need something… after all these years I still haven’t found just the right plants that live in shade and are happy in a planter…

just possible that I made a mistake when I brought out the morning glories and the dahlia from Lily Stone Gardens and planted them last Saturday…

the wind has been very strong and it has been cool in the evenings…

the dahlia hasn’t been looking at all happy and on Wednesday evening I covered it with sheets hoping to block the wind…

it is still not happy… we shall see…

I was surprised yesterday morning when I looked out the window to see the hammock stand on its back against the planter… clearly the wind had lifted the umbrella and blew it over…

when I went out I saw that the umbrella on the top was perfectly fine so I took it off… the wind has been very strong since Tuesday and may continue for a number of days… a section of the edging had broken right off…

the umbrella went into the garage and I was able to put the stand back up… not going to put the umbrella back on until the weather improves…

now to arrange to have the planter repaired;-)…

happy that the fish have finally decided to come out from under the bridge during the day;-)…

climbed into the pond as the pump that went into it last week was barely running…

after taking all the bits out, washed them in a pail, and then went back into the pond to return them…

when I turned it back on, it burbled just like when it first went in…

always careful when I go into the pond, but it also makes me happy;-)…

Saturday was another glorious day in the garden…

and I started planting… yay… I added compost and fresh soil to the veggie gardens and then planted seeds as well as a pepper, some squash, cucumber and the beefsteak tomatoes… the seedlings came from Jonathan’s Farm and were in great shape…

excited to see if anything grows up and over the arch…

brought out the dahlia tubers and got them into planters as well as the new dahlia that I got from Lily Stone Gardens… it has been growing very fast… and finally put in a number of the morning glory seedlings that have been growing in the house…
