had a delicious dinner last night…

our company chose Chinese food, so I tried to order from our favourite spot, around 5:30…

it took at least ten minutes and numerous attempts to get through… apparently everyone in the city wanted Chinese food too…

and then, the pick up time was an hour and a half, yikes…

but, when we got it, it was as always, delicious 🤤…

well, what a day, phew… it was chilly, overcast, and windy…

spent the morning in the garage moving bits and pieces out into the driveway to make room for an empty table to work on…

then my housemate met up with his grandfather to go and pick up lumber for the new shelves planned for the basement and the garage…

once he returned home, we moved more things and then updated a shelf beside the door for my gardening gloves and tools…

it is stronger, looks amazing, and now each tool is much more accessible underneath;-)…

we worked on the basement shelves, his brother arrived, and they finished them…

they ended up looking excellent and adding more useful space for organizing our stuff, lol…

they continued to work in the garage to redo a section of shelves and add counter space…

I didn’t quite get a picture of the finished product, before we moved all the bits and pieces back into the garage for the night…

it is going to be so organized that I might not be able to find anything 🤪…

went to The Park Cafe and met up with two friends…

we had a lovely breakfast and then a couple of us took a quick walk through the English and Leo Mol Gardens…

it was cool out so we didn’t dawdle… still a few beautiful colours out there…

then I walked across the bridge to where I’d parked the car…

had a wonderful, but short, visit with my Ottawa daughter over the last few days…

she had been to Calgary for an event and stopped here on her way home…

lots of time together as we caught up in person… late nights and early mornings while she was here… and lots of laughter…

always cake from Baked Expectations when she arrives;-)…

we spent a lovely morning at The Leaf noticing the growth since she was last here and counting cacao pods…

she also spotted the first chileo on the second tree… made me laugh cause I’ve been looking for ages trying to spot one on that tree…

we visited the butterflies although they weren’t very active as it was cool and overcast but it was fun to see them together… the Canadian Museum of Nature, in Ottawa, currently has a butterfly display as well so we often compare which butterflies we each see, lol…

we worked on a plan for our next trip together and did lots of research on the computer…

dinners in and out as we ate some of her favourites and then we were headed back to the airport for her flight home…

always a treat;-)…

out in the garden and front yard on Sunday morning…

pulled out a huge clump of self-seeded morning glories in the front flower bed… the frost got them a few days before…

I can understand how they are considered invasive in BC… but they weren’t causing any problem in the flower bed and added some lovely flowers for the last month or so…

nearly filled one of the yard waste bags and then I swept up Virginia creeper branches on the bottom decks… the bag was pretty full by the time I was done…

final piece of work was removing all the morning glory vines from the butterfly bench…

still a few jobs to do to close down the garden for the season…

took some time on Saturday turning the den into a guest room…

the sofa table makes its way to the dining room window as well as all the plants that are on it… tables and carpet are removed… the bed opens up…

the headboard mattress from the upstairs bedroom comes down to make the sofa bed more comfortable…

fresh sheets go onto the bed, a comforter, and pillows…

and it is done;-)…

all ready for company…

last week we went through the garden and collected flowers from the pansies, bachelor buttons and petunias, as they will be a special snack treat for the bearded dragon, lol…

next they went into the dehydrator to dry…

took about twelve hours and then they were nicely dried and put into a bag for future snacks;-)…

hope the dragon likes them…
