sitting by the pond after my visitors have left and enjoying the last bit of sunlight…

my water shoes are on the deck because I went into the pond once again and dredged up another pailful of leaves… the fish are still not coming out, but I did see the frog hop by earlier in the day…

all three of my grandsons came by just after noon… I made them grilled cheese sandwiches with the wonderful La Belle Baguette whole wheat sourdough that was delivered yesterday…

the oldest left, the middle one mowed the grass, front and back, while the youngest watered plants and pulled weeds…

some days it is hard to realize he is eleven and can reach and do more things…

after the work was done, relaxing happened and visiting took place…

this was the first time I’ve had people in the house and the system was they had access to the basement for cooling down and using the washroom and I had the main floor… worked perfectly…

we ordered Chinese food for supper and it arrived just before the daddy, who had been at work all day… afterwards my downspout got fixed, a stair board tightened and then off they went…

it was a treat to see them and I enjoyed every minute… I missed my nap, but plan on making it an early night;-)…

this morning I got a message from my son-in-law advising that TVs were on sale for Black Friday…

he had spotted a few that were a great price as he knew I was wanting a smart TV that would connect with my Google Home…

and my TV has been misbehaving for a few weeks now…

I went to the place he recommended on my way home just after noon… the streets around the mall were crazy… got into the parking lot of the store but there wasn’t a single spot to park… waited a bit but still no spots… drove out of the lot and went home…

later my son-in-law texted to say he and the younger boys would come over and we could try again, lol…

there were spots in the lot and lots of TVs in the store… took a while, but eventually we got our smart TV… on the way home we picked up Chinese food for our supper…

then there was the process to get it on the wall and hooked up…

so… now I have two remotes that both need to be used to watch programs… but, I can tell the TV to turn itself off;-)…

and, although the TV is smart it doesn’t want to play with Google Home…

maybe tomorrow it will want to play nice…

today I continued with the packing…

my youngest grandson came over for a few hours and we spent time in the hot tub and filled the pond… we also counted down the days till we go camping…

we had Chinese food leftovers and managed a selfie… took both of us to get it, lol… it was lovely because he usually doesn’t want to be in pictures…

after he was picked up I went outside and watched two gold finches fly away from the feeder… so I sat outside for half an hour, but they did not return…

big girl pants, bribe, Chinese food, Olympics, snow, snow covered, Valentine's eve

on the way out the back door this morning I stepped into six inches of freshly fallen snow…

as I struggled to get the car out of the garage and down the driveway I made up my mind that if it got stuck I would just call a cab… thankfully I made it out onto the street, and safely to work…

I texted my son-in-law, who had just been here yesterday shovelling, to see if he could come and snowblow… offered dinner as a bribe, and it worked… everyone arrived about 5:30, which gave me time for half an hour of Olympics…

when I arrived home and walked up the front I took a picture of how deep the snow was… those were the footprints of my construction fella who had been by earlier in the day…

sidewalk and front steps...

sidewalk and front steps…

Crystal got here first and shovelled the front steps and sidewalk in about three minutes flat…  oh to be young… I didn’t lift a shovel because of my back, which is feeling much better – and which I want to keep that way, lol…

Crystal shovelling...

Crystal shovelling…

all the boys arrived and the two biggest ones got to work cleaning up all the snow… while they were busy, we ordered Chinese food for dinner…

had a lovely visit with everyone and heard all about each person’s day… Gray spoke about Grandpa a bit, which is fairly unusual, as I don’t think he really remembers that much as he was so little when George died…

it was good to spend the time with them this Valentine’s eve…

Chinese food, family, forget, time goes swiftly, tradition

many years ago, George and I would go to my parents’ house once a month on a Friday after payday and have dinner with them and their neighbour and friend Margaret…  it was before we had the kids, a really long time ago…

we would decide what we wanted and George would call in the order and it became a lovely tradition… it is always more fun to eat Chinese food with others so you can have lots of variety…  we did this for many years and the people at the Chinese food restaurant would recognize George’s voice even many years later…

I decided a while ago that this would be a good family thing to do as I certainly don’t want to order just for myself…  so I’ve tried a couple of times to get this going again, with Crystal and family and my nephew and his girlfriend…

once it worked out and we actually went to the restaurant… this week we had a lovely time with family and a friend chowing down on a lovely dinner…

Chinese food dinner...

Chinese food dinner…

it reminded me of my parents, which was funn,y because today I was going through some files and was looking at some of my mom’s poetry…

time goes by so swiftly and you forget so much of what has taken place…

I hope the picture will help remind me of the special moments in my life…
