connectivity…

I’ve had my current Nikon camera over a year and a half… one of the reasons I upgraded, rather than repair my previous camera, had to do with technology…

newer cameras connect with computers and phones in a much simpler manner so I figured that it made sense to have those options…

sadly, just weeks after I obtained it, that technology stopped working… I went and spoke with the people at the camera store… they offered a few suggestions, which I tried a few times, but the wi-fi and bluetooth would just not work…

I gave up because it was very frustrating and I had tried everything they suggested…

I’ve been a bit disappointed in the quality of my photos and using the camera less… to get photos from the camera I would have to remove the memory card and plug it into either my computer or iPhone…

a few days ago, as I was taking some photos out the front window, I noticed a new icon at the bottom left of the screen… right away I pulled out my phone and connected to the app which was still on my phone…

I was beside myself, because now it was working… and also had a message advising they had fixed a problem with remote connectivity… so, not only can I copy pictures to my iPhone remotely, I can take pictures using my phone as the shutter release button… this is very handy when taking some photos as you don’t move the camera when depressing the button…

this is the first camera photo using the iPhone to take it…

yay, excited to see what else it will do for me…

rims…

had the loveliest surprise on Friday… my son-in-law and two of my grandsons arrived in my garden… the oldest grandson was picking up my car so that the winter tires can be removed and replaced with the summer beauties – they have wonderful rims

I stayed on the deck and they stayed on the grass… it was wonderful to see them and we had a nice visit…

while they were here my son-in-law got the pump running in the pond… I am so happy to hear the water cascading over the rocks… there was ice in the water as it has been below zero for a couple of nights…

they got the tires into their vehicle and we had to ask the moving truck that was parked right at the bottom of my driveway to back up so the car could get out…

too funny considering I haven’t taken the car out in 52 days, and the one day it needed to move, there was a truck in the way, lol…

it was great to see them as we haven’t been together since just before Christmas…

got a text this afternoon from a wonderful friend advising she was going to drop something off…

one day last week I had gathered up some Virginia creeper vines and she had picked them up, so I think this was a little thank you…

I was excited because she makes the world’s best scones… and I was hoping that was what she was bringing…

we had a lovely chat and exchanged items… she got a card from my stash for Mother’s Day, and I got craisin scones, made with sweetener, and some purple napkins… I think I got the best of the deal, lol…

I said I wasn’t going to eat them until tomorrow, but I had to have a taste, lol…

what a lovely surprise…

I’ve been out a few times topping up the feeders, and I even added a new one I discovered in the garage…

a friend dropped off some sunflower seed for me but I am getting a bit worried that it will run out before I can get more from the store… hopefully my grandson will be by and able to pick some up for me…

watching the new arrivals to the garden is such fun and I’ve started a list of everything I see this spring and summer…

thought I’d spotted a purple finch, but discovered that it is likely a house finch, lol…

today, Google Home reminded me to put out the garbage and recycling… I also remembered that tomorrow will be the first day that yard waste will be collected…

I was very happy about that because there were quite a few bags and a garbage can full of leaves, branches and old plants waiting to be disposed of…

this photo was from last week after Hilda the Gardener was here and it shows all the detritus that was needing a place to go…

this photo is from today after I moved all of the bags out to the lane… some of them were heavy

amazing how moving a few bags makes the whole area look better

when I went to take today’s photo I also spotted more finches at the feeder…

good day all around…

for a number of days I was moving the dahlia pots outside in the morning and back into the house in the evening…

then they lived in the house for a few days as the weather was rather cool…

and I had such fun checking on them throughout the day to see if they had sprouted, and if so, to see how they had grown…

once again they’ve been moving out and back… most are coming up nicely…

watching new growth is so satisfying, particularly in this time of great unrest in our lives… still waiting for a couple to pop through the soil…

looking forward to the permanent move outside… still haven’t decided where they will each end up…

someone recently talked about taking the time to enjoy eating, whether it is a snack, a meal, a treat…

tonight I had shrimp with cocktail sauce for my dinner…

while I was eating, I was remembering…

many years ago I flew to Florida with a dear family friend on vacation… I was there in case she had any problems with her health… we had a wonderful time and I enjoyed every minute with her…

one of the things you could do there was order cooked shrimp while shopping at the grocery store… while you shopped they were boiled and bagged for you to take home fresh… many evenings we peeled these delicious cold shrimp for our dinner as we discussed our day and life in general…

the other special memory was when we were in Hawaii last year and went to Shrimp Hale… it was a little restaurant in a strip mall just a short walk from where we were staying that we just happened upon…

the shrimp were boiled, butter, garlic and fresh lemon were added, and it was brought hot to the table in a plastic bag… we were given plastic bibs and gloves… the shells just went onto the paper on the table… it was such fun and so delicious

such wonderful and special moments and memories… how blessed I am…

made my dinner taste even better…

Wednesday was Canada Takeout day and I decided to support Pho Hoang, a local restaurant which always produces delicious food…

I used a different app than normal, which appears to make sure that all the money goes to the restaurant…

whenever I order I try to get enough for at least a couple of meals…

this time I got 3 different things… the pho soup is always enough for two meals…

I also got shrimp garden rolls which I had for my supper as they are best when eaten fresh… finally I ordered sweet potato and shrimp crepes… I had a couple with the rolls;-)…

my dinner was delicious…

since then I’ve had pho for two meals as well as enjoying the sweet potato and shrimp crepes for a breakfast…

tank…

a very sad morning here…

three days ago I unplugged the pump on the fish tank as I was on a Zoom call and it was very noisy… I have often done this…

when I plugged it back in, nothing happened… I tried different outlets to no avail…

I decided to put the fish into the pond but had to do some cleaning of it first… got some done, but hurt my back so waited a bit…

they seemed fine while waiting… in the middle of the night it occurred to me that one of the smaller pond pumps might work in the tank…

first thing this morning I was out in the garage finding a pump… brought it in, tested it in the sink and put it into the tank… think it is going to work in the meantime…

the water is murky, which will not likely clear up as currently there is no filter… the fish seem to be swimming about and appear much happier… this pump is even noisier than the last one, lol…

unfortunately, the biggest fish died during the night;-(…
