Sunday was a glorious day… I was up early and put out all the cushions for the first time this year…

on Saturday all the umbrellas, hanging chair and planters made it out of the shed, so it is starting to look like a lovely place to be…

spent the majority of the day outside moving around, finding the shady spots…

eventually I ended up on the main deck…

after a very nice dinner of steak, baked potato and mushrooms, all cooked on the barbecue, I just couldn’t go inside, so I sat in the dark and enjoyed listening to the leaves as the warm wind blew and contemplated what else might happen in the garden…

throughout the day, had fun consulting with my kids in Ottawa about plants for their garden and chatted with them a few times… besides being Mother’s Day, it was also their anniversary;-)…

I am so excited…

spent some time on Friday bringing out pots for various spots in the garden…

amongst the pots was one with a clematis that was moved into the shed in the fall…

and I think it has already started to grow;-)…

very pleased that it made it through the winter and looking forward to watching it develop and bloom again this summer… it has lovely light purple flowers;-)…

today we celebrated two birthdays with a drive out to Rosenort and High Tea at Lilystone Cafe;-)… it is becoming an annual tradition as this was our third visit…

and to top it off, we were there on this exact day last year… how cool is that…

this photo was from our last visit…

today we enjoyed the items on the menu and had a variety of delicious teas to go with the tasty treats… I had one of everything, lol…

my tea was Peach Apricot which I just love…

we’ve always found the staff happy to deal with our food issues, and eager to please…

even though it was 38°C, (crazy weather we are experiencing) the room we were in was very comfortable…

such a lovely way to spend an afternoon with this amazing group of women;-)…

started working on the pond on May 3rd… it is a big job…

brought out the pond pump and removed as much water as possible… aimed the hose towards the cedars to give them a good soaking…

the waterfall area has to be done separately, after I removed the two floating planters…

then I left it so that the leaves and twigs could dry out a bit before removing them…

the next day, the wetvac came out and it removed quite a few leaves, and a few rocks, lol…

next I got into the pond and picked out the majority of the last leaves in the dry areas… that evening, my housemate finished draining the waterfall area and cleaned up debris from the bottom of the pond…

on the 9th, we obtained the foam to fill the spaces between the rocks so the fish won’t be able to hide when we are trying to catch them in the fall, lol…

rearranging and foaming the rocks took two days of concentrated work and it was hot out…

Sunday, May 11, the pumps were in, the necessary rocks have been foamed, a few flower pots have been added for fish to hide in and now we wait for the foam to cure so the water can go in…

this afternoon the pond was filled, woohoo… excited to watch the first of the water enter, using a dedicated hose which goes right into it… took an hour and a half to fill the bottom portion and just under thirty minutes to fill the waterfall area… that had to be done with the regular hose, as it isn’t connected to the lower area unless the waterfall is running…

it will be a few weeks of it running before the fish make their way from the winter condo;-)…

unfortunately, the plugs on the post near the pond are not working, so for now I am using an extension cord to provide electricity to the two pond pumps… always something, lol…

so happy to hear it running;-)…

Thursday evening we went to do some grocery shopping… I found a couple of side tables for the garden and a new water bottle

which, by the way, isn’t purple… sadly the old one, which was purple, is no longer usable…

the tables were easy to put together and look good… so far, one is happily ensconced beside the butterfly chair…

and just possibly, I found some plants for the garden;-)…

the season is beginning…

what a delightful way to begin the day…

looked out the front window just after 7 am and spotted this goose…

watched if for quite a while before heading back to bed, lol…

then, just after nine, as I was making breakfast, I walked out to the living room and spotted five mallards across the street…

they all came over, but only two of them stopped for a snack under the bird feeders;-)… I was happy when I caught this one as it was leaving…

I think I have found a new favourite spot in the garden;-)…

from here I can see the flower beds and both bird feeders…

not sure if it will continue because soon the hanging chair will come out and that may affect the view, but I am enjoying it for now…

Wednesday morning, as I was waiting for my ride to aquasize, I realized that the trees across the creek were covered in leaves, woohoo;-)…

it was a beautiful day and I had a hot tub in the middle of the afternoon…

can’t even remember the last time I’ve done that…

what a treat… I am doing my best to enjoy every minute of these delightful days…

things are starting to pop…

on my walk a few days ago, I spotted a batch of dandelions… according to a gardener I follow, that means we can start planting😉…

the trees are greening, the wild rose is coming alive and the lily of the valley is popping up…

and I can almost see the poppies getting taller as I watch, lol…

how blessed am I to have the opportunity to enjoy all of these signs of spring;-)…

moved the big umbrella from the garden onto the deck so that we would have shade for our gathering yesterday…

the weather station was suggesting it would be 30°C… which was a bit crazy as it had been maybe 23 or so the last few days…

used lots of muscles, but it was worth it as there was shade for everyone, although there was a bit of moving chairs around to stay out of the sun… and it was hot

not sure if it will stay on the deck or not;-)…
