on Friday, woke up to geese honking as they headed out looking for something to eat… and spotted flickers in the field across from the house;-)…

opened the beautiful cards and gifts from friends and family I’d been saving over the last few days, and laughed at Google singing to whoever was having the birthday, lol…

received a gorgeous purple handmade book, filled with photos of the garden and a book about monarchs with things I didn’t previously know… going to have to read that more thoroughly…

tried to vote, but the lineup was long, so headed out for breakfast at The Pancake House…

decided to vote Saturday when I would have more time…

friends arrived with cards and flowers and we had a lovely visit… the neighbour stopped by and gave an update on the house next door and collected Easter books for the littles…

received many texts and phone calls and had fun watching some F1 on tv…

cookies and hot cross buns arrived as I was reading in the living room, so I had to eat one of the hot cross buns, yum…

supper was steak and lobster, with fries and asparagus;-)… followed by a blizzard, yum…

what a delightful day it was…

had a lovely pedicure on Thursday as one of the celebrations for my birthday…

a day early but, like many places, they were closed for Good Friday;-)…

Joy was gentle and did a wonderful job of holding my feet securely as she worked so I didn’t kick her at all… those sensitive feet, lol…

as a special treat, I had the paraffin treatment, which is always delightful…

and because I wore my flip flops, she put them on first and then put on the polish… very clever…

had lots of time to sit and let the polish dry before heading home…

and am very happy with the fresh toes on my already slightly tanned feed;-)…

my birthday week continued;-)…

went out for sushi on Wednesday and then took a drive to pick up a computer part for my grandson…

hadn’t had sushi for quite a while and the food was excellent… only had a few leftover rolls to bring home which is good because sometimes we order way too much, lol…

went to Shelmerdine with friends on Sunday…

after checking out all the plants, we sat in on a workshop about using all your outdoor space…

and I won a prize;-)… because it is almost my birthday… woohoo…

a rain gauge with solar flowers;-)…

lovely to be in a space filled with so much greenery…

and the flowers lit up after a sunny afternoon;-)… gotta find just the right spot for this in the garden…

started the day with a morning walk…

a busy weekend;-)…

on Saturday we went to see Raised by Women at PTE… it was our last play of the season…

it was a seventy minute performance by the playwright Keith Barker… he did a great job and the time went by quickly as he held everyone enthralled with his stories…

so excited today to get my new winter boots…

the pair I’ve been wearing for well over twenty years have begun to fall apart in front of me;-(…

I wanted Canadian-made and decided to try Vessi… besides being made in BC, they are also waterproof…

I had hoped to try a pair on and went to the mall, but they aren’t carried in Manitoba…

so, I took a chance and ordered them online and was pleased to get free shipping…

I ordered them last week and they arrived today…

and they fit… I was worried as often when I’ve tried pull-ons, they wouldn’t go over my ankles, but I had no problem… yay…

now they will get put away for when the snow starts in the Fall and the falling apart pair will sadly head to the landfill…

had another solo visit to The Leaf on Friday as I’d read that the flowering trees in the current display area were nearly finished blooming due to the heat…

I was surprised at how many people were there as I expected everyone to be outside enjoying the 17° C gorgeous weather…

as I entered the Tropical Biome I had to stop and wait a minute for the fog to clear from my glasses, lol…

happy to see the tiny flowers on two of the three cacao trees…

everything looked lush amidst the cooling mist that seems to be keeping the flora happy… quite surprised at how much the plants have grown… just last week it was easy to see all the way to the waterfall and now it is blocked again…

fun to watch one of the zoo keepers feeding the koi as I don’t often get to see that;-)…

the Mediterranean Biome had many flowers and the Babs Asper Display area held lots of plants, flowers, small trees, topiaries, and a truck filled with tulips…

the Butterfly Garden was busy with butterflies flitting about happily as they enjoyed the sunlight… the misting machines were also busy adding to the humidity and it felt very warm, lol…

so lucky to have this amazing place to visit;-)…

it was gorgeous out yesterday…

sat out on the deck and read for a while and then, when I got too hot (!!!), I worked on the back deck…

moved a few pieces of furniture and swept all the dead cedar and bunny poop off of it, although the tarp is still frozen into the ground in a few places…

before long we will be able to sit out there in the afternoons;-)…

I was just thinking about how great this season is as there are no bugs and about five seconds after that thought, a fly landed on my leg, lol…
