CDCP…

Friday morning I had an appointment to have my teeth cleaned and only had to wait a few minutes before getting into the chair…

everything went well and I was happy to only pay a tiny piece of the invoice… thanks to the CDCP… I was pleased because previously my dentist had advised they wouldn’t be participating in the program…

I usually don’t eat before my appointment, so on the way home I got a breakfast burrito;-)… yum…

and then I admired my goody bag treats, lol…

I’ve been going to this dentist for years, but still stress before and during the appointment…

when I was cleaning and reorganizing the computer room, I came across a few items that I usually put out around Christmas, but with all the recent turmoil going on, felt like now was the time to bring them out…

one is a white dove that I hung onto the Japanese Maple in the front window…

and the other is a stunning card that a friend got me for Christmas many years ago, which I placed in the dining room where I can see it…

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time thinking of those around me who are dealing with health issues and heavy life events and I am feeling more calm as I gaze upon these…

changeover…

computer technology has not been my friend recently…

since our changeover to Shaw, in September, the printer hasn’t worked… it would not connect to the wifi…

my housemate tried numerous times to get it to connect, without success…

we ordered a special cord to connect the laptop directly to the printer… and that didn’t work either;-(…

just a few days ago, my housemate turned the router on and off a number of times and it finally connected… yay…

since then I have printed the big batch of photos that I’d been trying to get done for ages;-)… woohoo…

complaining…

well, last night, when I went out for a hot tub, I put on my water shoes and toque

the toque always reminds me of my beloved;-)…

when I’d gone out the night before and climbed up the steps in my bare feet, they were cold;-(…

and so it begins…

I was feeling bad about needing them already, but when I looked at previous times I’d started wearing them it had been towards the end of October, so I guess I shouldn’t be complaining

almost-open…

in the process of moving the hibiscus and mandevilla, an almost-open bloom fell off…

the next morning I discovered that it was starting to open, even though it was laying in the dirt…

I grabbed it and put it in water and then spent the day watching as it opened and then began to close…

what a lovely treat…

I also found at least five buds on the plant… can hardly wait to see more flowers…

clinging…

brought the dahlia tubers up from the basement to finish putting them to bed for the winter…

I cleaned off the last of the dirt that was clinging to them, separated them by type, cut off miscellaneous bits, and divided them up…

once they were in paper bags, they went into a box to be stored in the basement and the leftover bits and dirt made their way to the garbage bin…

happy to get that job done and hopeful they will all start to grow come spring;-)…

grumpy…

the desktop computer has been a bit grumpy for quite some time…

a month ago or so it just stopped working… I thought maybe it was the fan as I didn’t seem to be hearing any noise from it, so I turned it off and left it alone, lol…

recently my housemate discovered that it wasn’t working and checked on it…

of course it started up without a problem… it is like it knows someone who understands something is there so it behaves itself… but it was working very slowly…

next, I contacted my computer geek son-in-law to climb in and see what the problem was…

he got in there, looked around, and while he was looking it started to work at an excellent speed, sigh…

next, I will work on it for a while and see how it behaves…

switch…

moved a few plants around in the living and dining rooms…

the mandevilla made its way to the dining room…

and the hibiscus moved to the living room and it might still switch with the monstera…

it will be interesting to see if they will be happy in these new spots as the hibiscus has always lived in the dining room…

yesterday I went into the garden and pulled out the metal poppy… luckily the ground wasn’t too frozen…

brought it into the house, gave it a good scrubbing and then took it out to the front step…

I found two small bungee cords to attach it to the rail… it looks pretty good…

and today I pulled out my poppy with the cool centrepiece and put it on my coat…

we must not forget…

trick-or-treaters…

was all ready for trick-or-treaters by about 4… and the weather was excellent, which it hadn’t been for years…

I had found some change, in case there were any UNICEF boxes…

dug out a few non-perishable items, should there be any kids collecting for Harvest…

a book, in case my next door buddy turned up…

and of course, the chocolate

kids started to come around 5:15 and there were lots of cute costumes, including this little person…

I decided that this year I wouldn’t count how many people arrived at the door but I think there were a few more than last year…

one fun thing was a decorated golf cart with parents in it, going along the street with their ghosts and goblins…

lights went out at 8:30, but there weren’t any visitors after 7:45…

still some leftovers should anyone in the house want them, lol…
