Wednesday was a lively day…

started off with an early breakfast and quick inspection of the house to make sure everything was tidy as the cleaners were coming at nine…

it was raining out when they arrived so I headed up to the computer room to get out of their way… while there I filed paperwork, put items in a pass-along box and tidied the desk… it always surprises me how that desk can get cluttered, all by itself, lol…

as they left, Hilda the Gardener arrived for a final cleanup of the garden… pots and planters were emptied in preparation for our next season, irises were planted around the garden, and the strawberry plant went back into the ground to overwinter…

while she was here, my grandson’s grandfather arrived to work a bit on the newly drywalled sections of the basement…

as they were working inside and outside, I began bringing in the plants that will live indoors during the next few seasons and setting them up in their winter locations…

this year I have set up a few grow lights in the spot where the small fish tank had been located… it will be an interesting experiment to see how they will do in this location…

so, the inside and outside of the house are both lovely, tidy, clean and organized…

then I had a nap;-)…

the fireplace is gone…

in 2019 the chimney came down…

currently my grandson is redoing his space and part of the plan was to remove the fireplace to make a bit more room, as it was a corner unit…

it was quite the job, as they had to saw through the pipe where it went through the wall…

then they recruited some additional muscle and rigged up ropes to help with the weight of the unit… quite a process…

it was touch and go as they maneuvered the stairs and just made it through the doorway…

from the door to the garage was a piece of cake, lol…

now it is waiting for a new home… hopefully someone out there will be able to make use of it;-)…

I don’t remember it being so difficult to bring into the house, but that was years ago when my beloved brought it in😊…

tanks…

following along with taking the netting off the pond and the fish being happier, I’ve been working on their winter condo…

rarely do I clean the tanks when they head out to the pond, lol…

so, I’ve been working on emptying tanks, cleaning them and getting them set up for the big move…

this year I decided to move the small tank from the living room to the dining room credenza with the other two tanks…

the plan is to have plants on the ledge where the tank was…

to do that I had to empty the two big tanks so that I could move them along so there would be room to fit the third one in… they also were scrubbed to get most of the algae off them…

and of course the one is the same depth, but about an inch and a half shorter than the others… we found some wood in the garage that brought it up to the perfect height…

we ordered a pump to use to empty them and after waiting for it to arrive, when I used it on Saturday, it worked for about five minutes and then quit, sigh… so I filled a jug and dumped it into the toilet over and over as well as watering some of the planters outside…

I quite like how they look all together…

after nearly completely emptying them and moving them, I filled them with the outside hose… I am so happy that it extends to a hundred feet so it can do things like this…

two of the three pumps started with no problem… unfortunately, the biggest one did not… it had been giving me a bit of trouble last year so I will be heading to Nestor’s to either replace the pump or the whole system… we have had that one for many years…

once it is running, it will likely be three or four weeks to be sure the water is clean and ready, before the fish come in…

little steps;-)…

on Friday I rearranged the lawn furniture so there was a bit more space on the back deck…

on Saturday, I took the netting off the pond… it was doing a good job of collecting the leaves although the weight of them had it sinking into the water…

the fish weren’t moving around as much as usual, the birds weren’t drinking or bathing and I didn’t like the look of it…

next year when it goes down, I will put some thin boards over the top so that it doesn’t slip into the fishes’ domain…

now, the fish, the birds, and I are much happier, lol…

had fun last night… our group went to Tehran Market & Cafe for Persian food…

it was fun to decipher the menu and and then see exactly what we ordered, lol…

we had this cute little button on the table to connect with the servers… it was very handy because it took us quite a while to decide what we wanted, lol…

our lovely waitperson took pictures of us with all the food…

I had lamb… it was very tasty and came with a huge portion of dill rice;-)…

there was even a spot on the button to advise when we were ready to pay… they came quickly whenever we pushed one of the buttons…

enjoyable evening with wonderful friends…

walked over and got a haircut this morning…

on my way, met up with a red fox that was about five feet away when it ran past me…

didn’t even look like much hair was taken off, but my head certainly feels better…

noticed the sad looking flower pots along the boulevard that look like mine at home…

apparently the city isn’t watering, just like me🤪…

does my hair look foxy;-)…

had a bit of fun moving plants around…

I’ve started to bring some of the houseplants in from their summer vacation in the garden…

the mandevilla came in and then plants from around the house were rearranged…

more will be coming in so I will have to decide where they will all go…

well today there was another repair person in the house…

we had ordered a tushy to put on the toilet, but when he hooked it up my grandson encountered a leak he could not figure out how to fix…

we contacted NextGen who have recently located to a shop at Bruce and Albany…

Tony arrived just ninety minutes later and had the leak fixed and a second problem in the kitchen sorted out inside forty-five minutes…

he was a knowledgeable technician, explained as he went along, and cleaned up all the mess before he left…

now I have a fan blowing into the cabinet and am waiting for the space under the sink to dry out so I can put everything back;-)…

this morning, my former neighbour and friend came by, removed the front door, and took it to his house where he replaced the bottom board which had rotted…

we had put a sweep on the bottom of the door and rainwater had been going into it which caused the rot…

we stuck a table in the space, put a chair up against it on the inside, and closed the retractable screen while the door was gone…

I sat and read in the living room as it was a bit nerve racking to not have a door, lol…

and, of course, a meter reader came to the door and I had to call through the table for them to go to the back…

when the door returned a few hours later, a new sweep was put on, screwed in, and caulked so it won’t get water in and should last for as long as I do in the house, lol…

what a blessing to have friends and neighbours who can help deal with some of the issues that take place in the house…

today I had to make a quick change, lol…

I had set up the deck for our weekly gathering with cushions on the chairs, a table for coffee cups and blankets because it was a bit cool…

once everything was set up, just before everyone was scheduled to arrive, I sat out and was reading…

when big drops began to fall…

brought in the chair with the blankets on it, covered two of the chairs and brought in the cushions…

set up the snacks in the living room and sat down to read just before everyone arrived, lol…
