at 5:30 Tuesday night l started to change the water in the hot tub…

a bit late to start the process, but that was how the day had gone, and it really needed to be done…

turned it off, brought up the pump, connected it to the large hose and within twenty minutes it was almost empty… it is so much quicker with the larger hose…

next I had to climb in and scoop out the last of the water and give it a good wipe down… that part always takes time, usually half an hour or so…

finally, after putting in the new filter, the water started to go in…

forty-five minutes later it was full and ready to be turned back on…

plugged back in and by Thursday morning it was ready for chemicals… it takes about five different ones, which go in one every twenty minutes or so, to get it ready for jumping in;-)…

had a nice time in the hot tub that evening, especially after all the work that had gone on over the last week…

tonight I enjoyed another visit to the tub and although it was overcast, it wasn’t raining or windy, lol… yay…

Tuesday, started the day by planting a tomato and a couple of types of cucumbers, including the splinted ones…

then I went to LeClerc’s with my adventure buddy…

had fun;-)… found some purple petunias, a fuchsia, a white begonia, salvia, white and purple verbena, and parsley for the swallowtails…

then stopped by DJ Paterson’s and found some milkweed and a beautiful purple clematis…

was able to get the begonia and verbena planted…

still have some planting to do…

the work started on Saturday with three of us…

Sunday my housemate and I worked away at the process and Monday we were back to three strong… a ton of work was accomplished and the job was nearly finished…

Tuesday we worked on a few bits and pieces, including levelling the back gate…

after some clever thinking the sunburst gates were rehung…

Wednesday morning we attached the last board to the bottom deck… woohoo…

I filled the space below it with dirt, but will have to add a bit more as it settles;-)…

so excited this morning when the new phone case I ordered awhile ago, via Etsy, arrived in the mailbox…

it has a slightly bigger wallet portion so I was hopeful it would let me add a few additional cards to it…

it came in a lovely black felt envelope which I will be able to use for something else;-)… the colour is a pale mauve and it has a strap so it can be worn like a crossbody bag…

it does have more room for cards which makes me very happy as I no longer carry a purse…

it is a touch thicker, so I am getting used to that, but so far I am very pleased…

although I didn’t think I’d use the strap, I have found it quite handy, lol…

today turned out to be lovely and I finally got the two water plants into the pond…

I pulled out the two floating baskets and put the elephant ear into one with some hostas that Hilda the Gardener dug up for me last week…

this container went into the waterfall area…

the papyrus went into the second container and I dug up a bit of creeping Jenny and creeping Charlie to add to it…

this one went into the main pond…

they look great and I hope the plants all thrive in their new homes;-)…

and I finally started to empty the bathtub pond… still lots to do to finish up that one…

here was how yesterday went…

first thing in the morning the deck looked like this…

the crew arrived and set to deconstructing two decks…

it didn’t take too long and the space was empty…

they went and collected lumber and other needed supplies…the rain came and went throughout the day

by the end of the day the frames were nearly done…

looking promising;-)…

this afternoon we attended our last PTE theatre program of the season…

it was a well done discussion of a complex issue with lots of humour… we are looking forward to next season…

afterwards we went for ice cream at Sargent Sundae to mark the event;-)… it was delicious…

now we are planning other adventures over the summer…

yesterday we had a hailstorm… it started as a bit of rain, then a thunderstorm, and then it turned into this crazy pounding of pieces of hail that went from pea to marble sized…

it happened around five and there was still lots left at nine-thirty…

the garden seemed to get it much worse than the front yard…

the poor baskets took a real beating… fingers crossed that they all come back…

this morning I discovered that two of the cucumber plants had been nearly broken in half, so I created splints for them and we will see if they recover…

what a sight…

yesterday we went to Shelmerdine…

I had called and they had a new shipment in, which included butterfly bush…

they are referred to as delicate perennials or hardy annuals, lol… that means you have to bring them in over the winter if you want them to survive… I managed to get one to survive one year, but it didn’t make it the following year…

I also picked up some beardstongue – which hummingbirds like, and has purple flowers…

finished up with cucumbers, dill, a tomato and a couple of waterplants…

the butterfly bushes went right into areas around the pond and the rest into the garage to harden off… likely the water plants will make it into the pond in the next few days…
