up early yesterday, had a quick breakfast, and headed out to get some gardening done before the rain started…

brought out the baskets…

put on my gloves, gathered up seeds, soil, tags, and tools…

emptied one of the nine vegetable planter boxes and then as I dug in fertilizer and loosened up the soil, I removed a bit of soil from each pot and then added in fresh soil…

next I planted peas and beans in the area where they will be able to grow up the arch…

I also planted some in the file cabinet planter so they can grow up the other side of the arch…

the cucumbers and tomatoes will go into the remaining pots around the end of the month… I have a few butternut squash seeds to put in as well…

and then it started raining, so everything got put away and I came into the house, lol…

for Mother’s Day I got four beautiful hanging baskets;-)… so far they have been going into the garage on cooler nights…

two are purple and white petunias…

the other two have white petunias and (maybe) lantana in them…

it is lovely to have flowers all over the garden…

and the morning glories are popping up;-)…

the garden is beginning to holler spring…

we had another wonderful time at Lily Stone Cafe in Rosenort…

it was just over a year since we were last there, and it was as delightful as it had been previously…

once again, we had a room to ourselves…

we had a variety of teas and a tasty assortment of sandwiches and dainties…

my favourite savoury items were the the cucumber sandwiches and the quiche…

surprisingly, my favourite sweet was the decadent Kit Kat cheesecake, considering that I am not that fond of cheesecake, lol…

we were stuffed and happy when we left and weren’t rushed out the door, even though it was their closing time;-)…

the drive there and back was not too long and although it was overcast we only encountered a few drops of rain on our way home…

but, it still amazes me that there seems to be traffic everywhere and at all times these days, lol…

had some delicious food today;-)…

for breakfast we made waffles with bacon, raspberries, maple syrup, and whipped cream… they were delicious and a treat…

for lunch I was treated to a lovely “Tea for Two” fundraiser from St. Charles Headingley UC…

I had a portion, including my favourite cream cheese and cherry, and have some left for later…

supper was smoked goldeye with coleslaw…

lovely treats for Mother’s Day… and it was good that I got all my steps in today;-)…

for the last little while the outer shell of the buds on the elm trees have been coming down…

then, when I looked outside on Friday, the ground and decks were covered with elm seeds…

after I put out the cushions and went to sit down, they were already covered, lol…

used a thermos for my drink to keep the seeds out…

spent time with the net to collect as much of the debris as possible from the pond… filled two nets, lol…

today I walked over to get my hair cut… had to wait a little while, but enjoyed some solitaire while I waited, lol…

it is always lovely to have a fresh do…

I also spotted a very nice bench along the way…

as I was nearing home, I got a shot of the field and some of the trees yet to get their leaves…

lots of green is showing after all the rain…

enjoying every beautiful minute I can manage in the garden…

yesterday, I dug pots out of the shed and planted the dahlias… four pots that go along with the one I planted last week…

then I set up a pallet with a plant hanging stand and added the lounge chair in the area to the northwest of the pond… I am hoping this will be a good napping area…

after I put out the cushions, I repaired one umbrella and put the rest up, to see when they provided shade…

after all that I had some lunch and read for awhile, testing out various sitting spots…

finally, I brought more pots out from the shed and set them up in various spots in the garden to be filled with plants;-)…

throughout the afternoon I noted where the chairs got the best shade…

while I was working a bunny came by and snacked on dropped birdseed and many white-crowned sparrows stopped by for drinks and baths…

what a delightful day…

had some quality time in the garden on Sunday…

the umbrellas all got put into their slots…

bird feeders were filled and some were moved…

the last of the muck came out of the waterfall area and water was added to the pond…

a piece of the pump was glued back on, it was connected to the hose and then turned on… the Kasa plug was connected so Google Home can turn the waterfall on and off…

what a treat to hear that lovely sound…

this morning there was lots of activity in the lane…

many tools were used… the sledgehammer, two types of shovels, a broom and pails…

a lot of broken concrete, rocks, stones, and soil were gathered, piled into the back of a truck and then taken to the landfill…

but, it is much tidier and with a bit more work done to it, will be much more useful for placing yard waste;-)…

all that activity brought out a few neighbours as well, lol…

last August the dryer had issues and Ron from Hameed Appliance Repair came out and was able to repair it, even though it was very old…

in March, the oven needed a new element and Ron came to our rescue again…

Friday the washer quit, sigh, and I contacted them for an appointment… heard back that they would be here Tuesday morning… once again Ron came, figured out the problem, ordered, picked up, and installed a pump and belt… all within an hour… it was a difficult job as the washer was squished into a very small area… a small box of broken bits and a found sock are all that is left of the process…

I have been very happy with the quick response from the business and the excellent work they have provided;-)…

I must say it feels like I’ve been wearing those big girl pants way too much recently…
