have spent time over the last week gathering and preparing all of the information required to complete my 2023 taxes…

getting the documentation ready always reminds me of how difficult doing this work was for my beloved… he really disliked getting the bits and pieces collected…

for the last few years of his life we had others complete the paperwork, although it was still a problem to put it together…

it still surprises me how simple it is for me now… for the first few years after he died, I would gather up paper bits and courier them to my amazing accountant, who would then process everything…

then she connected me to this great technology where I was able to upload all the information and they complete and submit it all online…

it still takes a bit of work to scan, save, and upload everything, but I am getting better at it each year…

and, it is done;-)…

woooo, my Fitbit was mad at me Monday morning…

the battery was so low it didn’t want to charge so I had to fiddle with it quite a few times to get it started…

apparently I should have plugged it in before I went to bed 😳…

went for a walk on Sunday morning… the front steps were covered with slippery ice pellets, so we walked carefully…

the temperature was around 0°C and it felt like -8°C… not bad and the wind was behind us as we walked towards Portage…

we arrived at the “A” and had a lovely breakfast…

it has been many months since I’ve been there and it was a nice treat…

breakfast here used to be one of our regular activities on the weekends… I would walk over and my beloved would drive… after breakfast we would head out in the car to do errands or take a drive…

it was nice to eat here this week as we come to the anniversary of his passing…

I sure do miss him…

the new season of F1 racing has begun…

Saturday morning I was up a bit before the actual race and watched some of the pre-race show, before the main event…

I am enjoying learning more about many of the drivers and being able to recognize them…

and then the race was on…

it is still amazing how quickly the pit-stops happen and how much depends on which type of tire the teams are using…

it is also fun to try to get good photos from the tv…

one down and twenty-three to go;-)…

Sunday night I really had to talk myself into going out to the hot tub…

it wasn’t cold, but it was snowing, sigh…

I do not like to get my face wet or my glasses covered in snow, so it was a bit of an issue, lol…

instead of taking my towel out with me, I hung it on the inside handle of the patio door so it wouldn’t be covered in snow when I got out of the tub…

made sure to put my peaked hat on over my toque… it had a bit of snow on it when I got back into the house…

on my way upstairs I took a picture of the garden, looks pretty but it was still snowing…

well, I didn’t break my streak… there have only been two days I haven’t been in since January first, both when the temperature felt like -41°C…

on Thursday I wandered around the house and took down all of the hearts, including the ones on the front door… they made their way back upstairs…

it always feels a bit naked when there is nothing hanging on the door…

I also took down the L O V E letters and put them back into their spot on the upstairs hallway bookshelf…

on to March, the birthday month, lol…

I am particularly sensitive to scents so the products I use are usually scentless – as much as possible…

lately I’ve been catching a hint of a scent as I walk through the main floor hallway…

it reminds me of pipe smoke, a scent that I have enjoyed as it makes me think of some very special people;-)…

but, I haven’t been able to figure out where it was coming from…

until today…

my housemate has a new bar soap and the scent is not in the bathroom, but in the hall…

it is very faint so was hard to track down… but I am always happy when I figure it out;-)…

I’ve been looking for ages for a narrow table to go behind the couch in the den…

at one point I even considered having one made by my handyperson…

then I found one that I liked the look of online and eventually decided to order it… it had a spot for a few plugs and usb ports as well…

the package arrived on Wednesday evening and my housemate took it downstairs and put it together while I was reading…

it came up on Thursday morning and went into the living room as I cleared off the table that was currently behind the couch…

after moving many pieces, the new table made it into its final spot…

electrical items were plugged in and then the plants made it onto it and the couch moved back into place…

it is the perfect height and length and looks excellent…

always happy when a project works out well…

over the last week I have read three Louise Penny books, one after the other…

it appears that I like her writing, lol, so will be picking up a few more…

today I was sitting in the sunlight reading the last one…

I had fun setting up the selfie stick to get this shot, particularly considering that I don’t use it too often…

but I can now set it up, connect the button to Bluetooth and take photos easily;-)…
