it was a beautiful day for an adventure yesterday… and we hadn’t been on one for awhile…
my adventure buddy and I drove out to Pineridge Hollow for lunch and a wander around the new shops that are there…
we had a lovely drive out and only got a little lost, lol…
we were just in time for our lunch reservation so we ate first… we shared a number of things…
rosemary and salt beet chips with a goat cheese ranch dipping sauce… my oh my, those were addictive…
next we shared a small Pineridge salad with mixed greens, apples, candied pecans and smoked Gouda tossed in a maple Dijon dressing… I forgot to take a photo before we dived in, lol… the small was more than enough for the two of us… and it was delicious… actually it was my favourite of all we ate…
she had the pulled pork tacos and I had the carpaccio – seared beef tenderloin, pickled rhubarb, strawberry gastrique, fresh herbs, arugula, pistachios, and a garlic scape aoli…
it was fun to try something different;-)…
and because we hadn’t eaten enough, she had schmoo and I had panna cotta with haskap berries…
we could have just had the beet chips and salad, maybe with a bit of chicken in it…
but we enjoyed everything and had leftovers to bring home…
from there we wandered through the shops and picked up a few items before heading home for naps, lol…
yesterday, for the first time in nearly two years, we went to PTE to watch a live play…
we were both masked and had to show our proof of immunization… there were less than half the seats filled as they followed all Covid protocols… the program was digital and the set was see-through;-)…
it was great to be able to watch a show live…
once we left, we went on another adventure to find a pasta shop my friend had recently read about… it was snowing again and the trees were beautiful…
we were the only people inside and it was such fun to look at things and make choices about what to purchase… I got some fresh spaghetti, sorrentino (ravioli) in mushroom sauce, falafel, empanadas and pita…
I woke up and sat outside for quite a while reading while the rest slept… the view out the window was beautiful… the campfire was still smoking from the night before…
and then took a walk with my son-in-law to check out the beach and the area around it…
on our way back to the campsite we watched a red fox cross the road in front of us… what a treat…
then it was off in the boat to fish… pulled up this odd looking drop along with some reeds, lol... finally I caught a fish… we got a small-mouth bass into the net, but due to a little issue with lines, we lost it before getting an official photo… the one in this photo my son-in-law caught a few minutes later… it is slightly bigger… but I did get to hold it…
the final fish of the day was another one for the daddy… a Jack…
then on to some tubing, swimming and back to the campsite… farewell to a wonderful time…
cleaned up the site, packed up the truck and headed home…
what a great time… besides spending time with my family, being on the boat is my absolute favourite…
up early-ish so that we could get in some fishing before the rain was supposed to arrive…
I sat patiently waiting for pickerel… sadly they didn’t want to play with me today…
the boys swam and there was some fancy kneeboarding…
we had an adventure going through a narrow section of the lake and found a new fishing spot with friends, but it was fairly windy so not much success… I did get to watch an eagle dive and rise up with a fish…
we headed back across the lake and while we were sitting out on the water the skies opened up… amazing how quickly the boys were able to get the cover on the boat and all fastened down… and of course, that is when the rain stopped, lol…
sky was looking mighty fierce though and when the thunder and lightning started up we headed for home…
poured for quite a while so there was reading and napping and phone games and board games in the camper…
rain stopped and we made a lovely dinner of bbq steak with baked potatoes, fried mushrooms and salad…
cleaned everything up and now one has gone fishing off the rocks with a friend, and the other two have gone to visit another site…
I am quietly drinking tea and reading… how lovely;-)…
