this morning the sky was very gray and a bit of rain came down…
a short time later the sun burst through to light up the trees, and then it was dull again…
now the sky has cleared and the sun and a few clouds are my view…
been a changing day…

yesterday I got my appointment for my COVID vaccination… woohoo… was thrilled as the age limit has been going down very slowly… arranged for my grandson to drive me there and back when the day arrives…
so, for a treat, I ordered from my favourite Vietnamese restaurant – Pho Hoang… we used to go there after our aquasize class… in the before time…
the food always arrives quickly and is delicious…
I usually try to order enough for a couple of meals, so got my favourite shrimp summer rolls with the steak and brisket pho… ate the rolls with some of the pho broth…
I also ordered some rolled ice cream, although I only ate a third of it with my dinner… it was delicious;-)…
had a big bowl of pho today… and maybe finished the ice cream;-)…

had a lovely afternoon on the deck yesterday…
removed one of the feeding saucers and cleaned the table… that took a long time but it looked shiny when I was done… looks ready for a meal with the boys;-)…
then I sat in the sunshine and read… so lovely…
at the end of the afternoon I brought in the planters which I am going to use to start some seedlings…
looking forward to getting the planting started…

I gathering all the documents to send off to my accountant… this always reminds me of my beloved who really disliked dealing with income taxes…
I am very careful to put all of the pieces into a tax folder throughout the year so that it isn’t too hard to produce what is required, although a number of donation receipts weren’t ready as I had an issue with my printer…. it did take a bit of extra time to gather those up, lol…
had it all done last week, but then received an email with slightly different instructions… so I had to take everything out and remove items and add others, lol…
this first year of retirement there were a lot more T-things to collect… amazingly they were able to download all of those, so I didn’t need to include them in the envelope…
but then, off it went… glad to have that done…
just found out that my finance guy got the numbers right to keep me in the correct tax bracket and I will be getting a refund…
yay…

I’ve been thinking of how much harder this pandemic would be for me without my oldest grandson…
very early on I lent him my car with the agreement that he would do any errands that I needed…
since then, he has fetched and carried numerous items for me… he finds groceries that I can’t get from Save-On-Foods… he collects items I need to keep the fish happy… plants and bird seed have been delivered… and mail sent… he has also brought his brother over to mow and shovel…
on the few occasions that I needed to drive somewhere, he has brought the car for me and then picked it up when I was done…
today he came by with a few hard-to-find items including flowers, and then moved some planters for me…
he collected the summer tires, we visited for a while, planned a time when he will bring the shoveler over, and off he went…
I am blessed;-)…

went through my fabric stash and filled a laundry basket with pass alongs…
there was about a ten year period where I collected fabric to use to decorate tables, rooms, etc… enjoyed the memories of when the various pieces were used… laughed as I remembered a colleague who used to call them my rags…
this basket had been filled to overflowing and still has quite a few items in it that I couldn’t let go, including a number of scarves… so happy to also find a few items that I didn’t even know were missing, lol…
visited outside with a wonderful young woman who came by to collect the stash and always makes me feel great…
looking forward to seeing what she produces;-)…

in January 2020 I decided to cutback on paper towel… I gave most of what I had away and only kept a few rolls…
I moved the one roll that was in the kitchen to the closet, so that it would be more difficult to get to…
I found a number of old towels and facecloths around the house and started using and reusing them… they sit on the microwave and when used go into a small bin that I have next to it, before heading to the laundry…
today I used the last piece from that roll and brought up another… wonder how long this one will last…
it is surprising how little you can use when you are thinking about it… next up will be the Kleenex…

had some fun watching this little critter…
all of a sudden another came along… turned its head to stare them down… and there was some serious scurrying;-)…
they look so cute, but they are a lot less friendly than the gray squirrels and run everyone else off from the feeders…

got another batch of reusable tissues and had fun figuring out how to best set them out…
found a small Kleenex box, opened one end, folded the tissues over one another, placed them in the box, used double sided tape to close it, and popped the first one out;-)…
works perfectly…
then I dug out a small container to put the used ones into until they get washed;-)…
