anyone who follows me knows that I am trying to keep my diabetes in check with diet and exercise only…

when I started I absolutely gave up any type of sugar… that was hard, and also included potatoes, one of my favourite foods, lol…

over the years I have loosened up my diet to include some of the things that had been removed… always done in consultation with my doctor, so that my life was less focussed on the fear of my A1C number…

at my last appointment, my number had gone up to the edge of needing meds…

so, I cut back all sugar once again, which meant that I wasn’t having any chocolate;-(…

I was excited a few days ago to learn about Happy Mail for Chocolate Lovers (through Patreon)… it is a monthly subscription that will send me an envelope of goodies each month… all chocolate-themed, but no actual chocolate…

a great way to soothe my chocolate craving, without any of the sugar content, and provide support for an artist…

there is even an app for Patreon so I can see any items going up about Happy Mail for Chocolate Lovers (also on Instagram @happymailforchocolatelovers).

looking forward to see what will be in my first envelope;-)…

more time working on/in the garden…

changed tables in the living room window to make space to be able to put more of the deck planters in the sunlight… once they warm up, I am going to fill them with alyssum and morning glories…

kind of exciting… I also moved the big planter onto the front step and will put it back into the flower bed in a few days when the weather is warmer…

filled the other planters with datura and morning glories and planted a few additional tomatoes… I’ve moved the tomatoes onto the dining room window ledge…

it will be interesting to see what sprouts…

did a bit more planting…

already have grape tomatoes and milkweed going…

added white alyssum and dahlias… I am not expecting anything from the dahlias… I brought them in and bagged them in the fall, but they don’t feel full, so we will see if anything pops up… if not I already have new ones ordered which should come sometime in May…

also put datura and morning glories in to soak before they get planted…

found this sunflower smiling at me in one of the planters where I will be putting morning glories, lol…

spent a little time preparing some Easter treats for my grandkids…

was watching tv and saw a cute bunny made from a paper lunch bag, and dug some out of the storeroom…

it was such fun crafting them… not hard, but enjoyable… filled them with a few goodies, found ribbons and made nametags…

sorry I can’t show you what is inside, lol, but who knows who might see this post;-)…

they look very sweet and are waiting to be picked up and delivered for next Sunday…

well, it took most of the day, but I got the obelisk put together;-)…

started first thing in the morning… put a couple of layers together and then made a mistake and couldn’t remove a pipe that was stuck… left it and kept thinking about it… was really missing my beloved… he had the strongest hands and that was what I needed…

eventually I remembered the clamp that is attached to the workbench in the garage…

after using cloth, the clamp and pliers, I was able to separate two of the pieces… finally was able to add a piece upside down and connect the remaining pieces together…

looks great;-)… hoping for a few warmer days so I can set it into the pot on the deck… the morning glories are going to look great on it…

way to go me…

my grandson arrived yesterday morning after picking up a number of things for me…

he brought me a bunch of solar globes, a new squirrel-proof feeder, a kneeler for the garden, stamps, seeds, a new plate and a few groceries…

I am thrilled about the solar globes as I’ve been searching for them since last summer;-)…

he also moved a big planter and my hammock chair so that I can clean up the back deck…

the obelisk I ordered will go into the large planter on the deck… as soon as I put it together, lol…

been busy in the kitchen…

I finally used the new steamer basket that I ordered from IKEA… it worked beautifully in the Instant Pot to hard boil some eggs…

it is an easy way to cook them and they always turn out great…

also made crackers from the Oh She Glows app on my phone… they are very tasty and do not have any flour in them…

this is the second time I’ve made them and they came out crisper as I thinned them out more than the first time…

planted the first of the seeds… spent time one day getting the containers set up… most of them have lids so they will be like little greenhouses…

used a couple of egg cartons for the grape tomatoes…

last year I popped some tiny wrinkled tomatoes into a bit of soil and they did very well, so I have decided to try again this year;-)…

I have learned to be ruthless and will remove some from each container once they start growing…

on Saturday, I spent the majority of the day outside…

did a bit of garden planning… had to bring out one of my beloved’s measuring tapes to do some checking of sizes of planters…

he had many, many measuring tapes… I have given a number of them away, but there are still a few around the house and in the garage…

put out a lounger, swept part of the back deck, topped up the hot tub and sat in the sun and read…

lovely way to spend time…

those big girl pants are fitting more comfortably all the time…

yesterday, in the early evening, the power went out… it was still light so I sat in the quiet and finished a book… then I went in search of flashlights and candles in case I needed them… found both and had them set out in each room so I would be ready when it got dark…

after about forty-five minutes the power came back on… Google turned all the lights on and the fish tank pump started burbling…

I turned on the tv which came on and after a few seconds would say the connection was lost… same thing for the one upstairs…

I decided to go to bed and see if it was more cooperative in the morning… unfortunately it wasn’t…

so instead of freaking out and calling my son-in-law, I went down to the router, turned it off, once I figured out which plug to use, and waited… plugged it back in, and waited…

and then turned on the tv which was now perfectly happy…

I also put a label on the plug for the next time this happens…

way to go me;-)…
