yesterday morning I was out in the garden planting peas and beans…
there is something growing in one of the pots which I don’t recognize, but maybe as it grows I will get a hint…
expecting some rain so hope that will help get them started…

last year I almost missed this little iris… so I was watching for it this year…
it sits right up next to a flower pot which I hope is going to have a dahlia growing in it…although currently there is no sign of said dahlia;-(…
but the iris is beautiful…

happy I took a walk around the garden before the thunderstorm…
this is a self-seeded columbine… they have wandered around the shade garden over the years… so far this year I’ve found two…
we really got a good downpour… I watched it pour over the water barrel as it was coming down so hard and fast…
not sure how the flowers faired afterwards, lol…

woke up to twelve open poppies yesterday…
was quite surprised as they usually open one or two at a time…
they look lovely, particularly with the reflection in the pond…
the goldfish add to the pretty orange colours, lol…
can’t stop taking photos of them…

I’ve been checking around for purple butterfly bush with no success… last year I was able to get some from a local nursery, but they haven’t been able to acquire any this season…
eventually I found some online at Home Depot, so I ordered them… wasn’t sure what I would get, but was hopeful…
Friday, two boxes were delivered and the plants looked good…
I decided to keep them in the house until later in the day, when I put them in a shady spot to get used to being outside…
very happy with the purchase… hoping they enjoy their new homes in the garden…

a friend stopped by today to bring me a treat and some bandaids…
and to check on my injuries;-)…
she decided I was okay but did suggest that more bruises and soreness are likely to keep popping up for the next few days…
as it happened, I took some drugs this morning as a fair bit of my body was achy…
we agreed that I likely twisted my ankle in the process, so I spent time on the bed with a pillow under my leg…
haven’t taken anything else, but I may take something before bed…

two days ago the poppies were looking excellent, and fairly close to opening…
often they will open one or two at a time which is great, because their season is very short…
this morning I looked out after the storm and spotted these beauties…
what a delightful treat;-)…

I have been spending as much time as possible in the garden during these lovely days, enjoying every moment…
today, I put an umbrella on the hibiscus, which is getting a sunburn, even though I hardened it off… I came across the umbrella yesterday in the shed and it worked perfectly…
I switched two planters on the deck so that I can see the morning glories more easily… one of the chairs has been in front of them, so it hasn’t been as easy to see them… this will be much better…
finally I cleaned the pump again… I am getting good at it, lol… it makes a huge difference to the water flow…
I also followed the shade around the space as it was very hot in the sun…
I am so blessed to have the time and space to be able to enjoy the garden each and every day…

work in the garden continues…
yesterday, the remainder of the plants were put into pots, including some new plants;-)…
there are baskets everywhere and the various pots are filled with lovely combinations…
the garden is taking shape…

today I took care of a few jobs in the garden…
I watered the grass seed twice and visited with my baby bunny buddy while I was at it;-)…
I levelled the water barrel, which was a fairly heavy job, but managed to get it done…
and finally, I cleaned the pump so the waterfall works better… every three or four days it gets clogged and needs to be cleaned out… when it is warmer, I sit on the bridge and clean it standing in the water… the water is still rather cool, so I’ve had others do it when they are over…
today, I put down a cushion and laid on it as I leaned way over the stones and was able to grab the bits and pieces stuck in the filter… almost immediately the sound of the waterfall improved… I was even able to get back up without too much difficulty;-)…
