today I retired…
started working part time at sixteen; worked full time for eight years, once I graduated; stayed home for eighteen more; and then worked for twenty-two…
it has been a slice;-)…

this morning I let the alarm go off and let it play the whole song as I considered that I will only need it for two more days…
I might have to get up early in the future, but not for work;-)…
usually I wake up before the alarm rings, so I don’t often have to turn it off…
two more days… hard to believe I have made it to this place… it is exciting and a bit scary…
going to start with lots of rest, relaxation, and maybe even some reading…

woke up this morning thinking of my beloved… he’s been gone for seven and a half years, and I miss him every day…
I try not to use the same photos in more than one medium, but this is one of my favourites, so I am sharing it broadly…
he would have been 71… in his honour I made bacon and eggs over easy for breakfast, lol…
put on a purple plaid shirt and jeans… he was always in jeans and had a favourite plaid shirt that he often wore…
after a busy day, my grandson met me at work, we ran a few errands and had dinner out…
ended our meal with apple crisp and ice cream… my beloved made the best apple pie;-)…
lovely day filled with happy memories…

yesterday WordPress sent me a note marking seven years since I started blogging…
time has flown past…
and dragged slowly…
this was the first blog I wrote…
since then I have posted 2,573 times and had 25,300+ views…
wow…
my life has changed in so many ways, big and small…
the next event will take place a week Thursday, when I leave the not-for-profit organization where I have worked for ten plus years… retirement… a big step on the journey…

went to the Outlet Mall with my grandson… had savoury crepes for lunch… very tasty, but a little messy to eat, lol…
from there we visited quite a few shoe stores before he found just the right pair…
then we spent some time in the Calvin Klein store… the shopping didn’t take long, prices were great, but the line-up to pay was rather tedious…
there were lots of beautiful decorations wherever we walked…
always great to spend time with this kind young man…

busy but productive day…
started with an early morning meeting to do some work on a program that I am looking forward to learning more about… was great to catch up with the other two participants… we had some lovely snacks while we worked…
once that was done, I was picked up by a good friend and we headed to PTE…
on the way we stopped for bread and had lunch at the Pho Hoang… not sure why I look at the menu, because I always choose the steak and brisket pho, lol…
had leftovers to bring home for tomorrow…
we enjoyed The Wedding Party… amazing what 6 people can do;-)…
home to take it easy for the evening;-)…

my camera fell off a table at work at the beginning of November…
the viewfinder popped off… this camera doesn’t have the old-fashioned type of viewfinder, only the electronic version…
I tried to stick it back on, but the screen remained black… can’t really take photos when you can’t see what is in the viewer… was so upset that I didn’t even get a shot of the before, lol…
called the photo store only to discover I purchased the camera last September… so, no warranty, sigh…
then I called the camera hospital and sent it over by courier so that it could get repaired before the holiday season…
it has been a long time, but this morning it returned to the office… put my memory card back in and took a few photos right away…
so happy to have it back… I enjoy my iPhone camera but have really missed this one…

I am a very happy camper today;-)…
rushed home to be here in time for my appointment with MTS… they were coming to fix the PVR and I didn’t want to be late because it hasn’t been working since last Wednesday…
my new friend Anthony fixed the main PVR in the basement and then sorted out an issue I’ve been having with the main floor tv… he had already done some work online during the afternoon to help the wifi work better… finally, he had a recommendation to make the tv picture better so I need to pick up a different cable…
this little box is the solution to my viewing problems… hurray…
and there was a parcel in the mailbox… it had a few items for other people, plus lots of chocolate for me… and a package that I get to open on the first day of Advent;-)…

my friends often tell me that my oldest grandson looks like my beloved… but I don’t see it…
recently my daughter sent me a photo she came across… it was in an album that belonged to her grandmother, my beloved’a mom…
when I first looked at it I wondered where she’d got the picture of my grandson, lol…
then I realized it was my beloved…
a photo from high school, so over fifty years old, but it is still in good shape… and a similar age to my grandson now…
here is a photo from my grandson’s grade twelve graduation…
they do look alike;-)…

had a delightful afternoon with a dear friend…
she makes decorating for the season so much fun… both of us are team players and we work well together…
we did some of the usual set-ups and then tried something new… we hung a collection of wreaths together on the wall… looks good…
I can’t even say how many collections I have… more and more I am bringing out less and less… I think that January and February might be a good time to go through the boxes and pass many items along to others…
the living room looks lovely and spending time together brought out my holiday spirit;-)…
