last week I received my first (and possibly only) Christmas card…
made me think of the cards I’ve received over the years… as it happens we sent very few cards, lol…
I am always so impressed with those who take the time to write cards and/or letters…
what a treat when one turns up;-)…

on Friday, woke up to geese honking as they headed out looking for something to eat… and spotted flickers in the field across from the house;-)…
opened the beautiful cards and gifts from friends and family I’d been saving over the last few days, and laughed at Google singing to whoever was having the birthday, lol…
received a gorgeous purple handmade book, filled with photos of the garden and a book about monarchs with things I didn’t previously know… going to have to read that more thoroughly…
tried to vote, but the lineup was long, so headed out for breakfast at The Pancake House…
decided to vote Saturday when I would have more time…
friends arrived with cards and flowers and we had a lovely visit… the neighbour stopped by and gave an update on the house next door and collected Easter books for the littles…
received many texts and phone calls and had fun watching some F1 on tv…
cookies and hot cross buns arrived as I was reading in the living room, so I had to eat one of the hot cross buns, yum…
supper was steak and lobster, with fries and asparagus;-)… followed by a blizzard, yum…
what a delightful day it was…

finished up the card box project, woohoo…
went through all of them and had no difficulty moving excess to the pass-along box…
it is always interesting to me how one day it is a simple process to toss/give away things, and another day you can’t let go of anything…
I relabelled some of the dividers to make them fit with my types of cards…
a pile has gone into the pass-along box and the rest put behind the appropriate tab in the box…
happily there is still room left for additional cards, lol… and my desktop is clean and tidy once more…
job well done, if I say so myself;-)…

started on a little project…
the plan is to sort through all of the cards so that they will fit into the card box…
this is going to be difficult as they were previously crammed into the box, lol…
now I will sort through all of the cards and decide which ones need to be given away…
decluttering is always a process, sometimes more difficult than others…
wish me luck;-)…

recently I picked up some frames to use with some dove cards that were just taped to the wall…
it only took us a little while to add nails and get the two bottom ones up…
then we had to use some ingenuity to attach the top one…
I am very pleased with the results;-)…

what a lovely day…
had a pedicure, which was a real treat as I haven’t had one since covid… the massage portion was bliss…
received cards, gifts, texts, and numerous phone calls… my kids were trying to see how many times they could sing happy birthday to me throughout the day, lol…
enjoyed the technology that let the Ottawa kids send me presents via Amazon…
treats turned up throughout the day, and a gorgeous bouquet arrived in the afternoon;-)…
dinner was barbecued steak and lobster with asparagus, mushrooms and tiny potatoes prepared by my housemate…
and considering the crazy weather – rain, snow, and bits of sunshine – barbecuing was a gift…
a final touch was a small portion of chocolate mousse;-)…
ended the night with a hot tub…
I am truly blessed…

I haven’t used them for a very long time…
not sure that most of them will be usable for cards, but it was an enjoyable time…

had a lovely day yesterday…
started with an early morning hot tub as the sun shone… then had pie for breakfast…
there were phone calls, text messages, visits, it was great and a DQ blizzard miraculously appeared;-)…
I spent time reading, napping, and watching a few programs…
we had steak and lobster for supper and I didn’t even have to clean up;-)…
my kids gave me another subscription for eight bouquets this summer… I loved the ones last summer… and this afternoon flowers arrived to brighten the dull day…
all in all, a pretty fine few days…
birthday week’s are fun;-)…

the decorating is taking shape…
worked on the living room table…
removed all the pictures, angels, sarongs, and stones…
found the bags filled with ornaments that have gone into it for the last few years…
got them into three of the squares and saved the last square for cards;-)…
and I also received the first card… woohoo…

while I was setting out decorations for Christmas I came across snowflake cards that I’ve saved over the years…
I decided to put them up on the bathroom door and they looked pretty good…
today, I was doing a little crafting – embroidering a couple of gift tags that were part of my Happy Mail for Chocolate Lovers envelope…
once I finished that, I felt inspired to put a frame around the snowflake cards… used some of the washi tape that my daughter has sent me over the years…
might have been better with a wider frame, but there wasn’t enough of the tape…
fun to do a bit of work with my hands…
