I have the nicest neighbours… they are basically all new(ish)… when we first moved here we became good friends with a number of neighbours, but they are all gone…
since then there have been a few inhabitants of various houses who we didn’t chat with very much…
today, the neighbour across the street came over and fixed a piece of siding at the peak of the house that had come loose during the big wind storm a while back… we had a lovely chat as he tried to get it hooked back in… he had volunteered to fix it for me, via his wife, who I had chatted with the other day when the fire trucks raced down the street… he helped me last winter when Indi got stuck at the bottom of the driveway and I couldn’t get her up the slope…

the tomatoes I’ve been eating came from the next door neighbours on my right… they have been in the house for a few years now and remind me of our friends who used to live there… he spends a lot of time tinkering in the yard and garage, lol… they spend time at the lake and moved here to help with their grandchildren and have them over on a regular basis… they got a dog a few months ago… not sure what type he is, but he is small and learning not to bark when he sees me in my garden…
the neighbours behind have been there for ten or so years so knew my beloved and they would chat over the fence all the time and share tools… the other day he offered to help with the garage cleanup…
the neighbours on the left are the newest addition… they are a young couple who also have a new puppy, which is going to be fairly large… they have both offered to pick up anything I might need when they are out and about…
I think back to the gatherings we used to have on the deck… weekend breakfasts, dinners and visits… those days are long gone…
and of course, nowadays the only visiting we do is at a distance…
still, it is lovely to know that if I need urgent help I could call on any of them…

hair came out nice too…

today I went for a pedicure… last night my daughter suggested I step out of the box and go with something other than purple, lol…
so I chose mauve;-)… also had the paraffin treatment…

artist, BestCanvas, big girl pants, chat, flowers, garbage, happy, lilac, neighbour, photos, recycling, signs, snow, Spring, widow
two lovely signs of Spring today…
early this morning I was taking out the garbage and recycling… hadn’t been able to open the garbage container for a few weeks as it had frozen shut… happily it melted enough that I could finally open and fill it up…

as I was putting them out my neighbour came by and we had a short visit… it was warm enough for us to have a chat… he offered to bring them in once they were emptied… nice to connect with neighbours as the season improves…
and I was so excited later in the day when my BestCanvas picture arrived… it is a beautiful shot I’d taken at the Park of a lilac blossom and it looks amazing…

I’ve printed many of my photos and have a wall of my water lily shots, but it was rather energizing to have something on canvas… I feel like an artist, lol…
lilacs are one of my favourite flowers and another sign of Spring…
now, if the snow would stop coming, and the sun stay out longer, it really would be Spring…

beloved, chat, menagerie, quiet day, recuperating, snow blowing, unpacked
enjoyed a quiet day at home… finished unpacking, did laundry, napped and watched the US Presidential Inauguration off and on throughout the day… having a lazy day reminded me of this picture of the girls with our menagerie…
had a good visit with my BS friends and am getting ready for bed…
missing my beloved today… it would have been nice to have him to chat with about all the activities of the week…
last night when the kids were here they made sure that my garbage and recycling were taken out, as well as snow blowing the driveway so that I will be able to get the car out… a large amount of snow came down while we were gone…
very happy that I’ve taken these few extra days off so that I can recover and be full of energy for work on Wednesday…

chat, last things, lovely hot tub, pack for Mexico, play on the plane, shots, suitcases, took down ornaments
I’ve had a lovely, restFULL day… didn’t wake up too early, and started my day with a lovely hot tub – wasn’t even cold out there… I read and watched TV and took down Christmas ornaments… I also organized a small roast for tonight’s dinner with the kids…
Cyndi called a few times and we had a lovely chat… it is getting pretty exciting now that the trip is so close…
I have been gathering items to pack for Mexico, and yesterday picked up what I think are the last things… got a number of bits and pieces to entertain the boys on the plane, as 5 hours sounds like a very long time if there aren’t activities…
my cold seems to be getting better and my eye is coming along nicely… I plan to do a job or two each night so that when I start my vacation on Friday, I won’t be exhausted…
we made it through the shots very well on Saturday afternoon… Tavin didn’t even cry, although Gray did… this time my arm doesn’t hurt at all… I am wondering if it was the tetanus shot that caused the pain last time…
Jeff arrived before Crystal and the boys, and we spent a while talking about suitcases because I’ve been in a quandary whether to take two small ones or one large one… thanks to having him to brainstorm with – where is George when I need him – I have decided to take a big one and a small one, so will bring them upstairs later to start packing… one might be filled with the snorkels and masks I am taking for everyone…
thinking how George would have been packing like a fiend, and would then have two or three additional piles of stuff that would have to be jammed in… it was always fun to watch him pack a suitcase, although he was the best car packer I have ever seen…
