the clematis is growing beautifully…
I’ve been taking photos when I leave the garage to record how quickly it is climbing…
these ones started on June 5th… they go clockwise and end yesterday when I saw the two buds getting ready to bloom…
the plant is much fuller than last year… my beloved and I planted this one…

things are really growing in the garden…
and I don’t just mean the dandelions and grass, sigh…
the ferns are growing by leaps and bounds…
the lily of the valley are starting to bloom… they smell lovely, but they don’t like to stay in one spot… if I was starting a garden I would only put them in a place where they are surrounded by concrete…
and the clematis is happily climbing up the trellis…

yesterday when we were out we picked up two trellises…
had to replace the sunshine frame that the clematis grew up on the wall at the side of the house… last year when the roofers were here it got broken in a couple of spots…
here is a photo from a while back that shows how it used to look…below the frame my beloved had placed chicken wire to help the clematis make it up to the frame, lol…
and this is how it looks today…
the timing was great because it is just starting to leaf out… it was funny to see the shadow of the frame on the wall when we took it off… you can actually spot the curve in the centre at the top of the trellises… should have taken a picture, lol…
also going to be easier to pull out and plug in the hot tub…
looks great;-)… might just pick up another clematis to add to it…

this morning my daughter and I went shopping…
started at Lowe’s where we chose a few plants and a couple of trellises for the clematis…
then it was over to Costco where we picked up groceries and a few more plants…
stopped to pick up lunch at a new burger place close to home… had been following them for a while on social media and was eager to try them out… a bit disappointing… ordinary burgers and although there were lots of fries, they were stubby, and not that tasty… and it was expensive… oh well…
after a nap I had a hot tub and sat on the deck reading for a while…
tomorrow I will do some planting…

we’ve been searching for a trailer for camping for the last while… looked at a few options but they weren’t just what we were wanting…
on Friday I went with my son-in-law and the younger grandsons to look at a pop-up trailer just outside the city…
we found the place rather easily, lol…
there was the most beautiful clematis in the driveway, and I had to take some pictures…
we had a look at the trailer which was set up in the garage…
although it is bigger, it reminded me of the trailer that we had for many years and the great camping trips we enjoyed with it…
we decided to buy it… it was a bit of a process, but between my credit union and the one in the town, we managed to get the funds so we wouldn’t have to make another trip to pick up the trailer…
when we got back to the house where it was, I was chatting with the woman who was selling it, as her dad and my son-in-law were taking it down…
she was talking about how her dad was such a support for her and I said something about my husband being the same for my daughters… then I mentioned he had died five years ago… she looked at me oddly and said George… at which point we realized that she had worked with my beloved… she had thought I looked familiar but was confused when my son-in-law had the same name, lol…
makes the trailer even more special…
the final giggle for me was the brand name on it… anyone who knows my son-in-law will see the connection…
he worked at the Palomino Club for years… we didn’t even notice this until we got it home…
looking forward to family fun and memories with this new addition….
clearly this was meant to be… serendipity…

once again I spent a few minutes taking pictures of the clematis this morning…
so pretty…
got home and decided on an early hot tub as I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather…
just a I was planning to get out, the rain started… this picture shows where I was standing, lol… and if you look closely you might see the squirrel snacking at the feeder…

woke up just before 5 to go to the bathroom and when I put on my glasses saw this beautiful moon out the window…
usually I see the moon out the window between 10:30 and 11:30 pm… seemed odd to see it so early in the morning, and was happy to get a great photo…
almost forgot to put out the garbage and recycling on my way to the garage… then I took a few pictures of the clematis… was surprised at how many flowers were open…
there are tons of blooms on it and more opening every day… starting the day looking at flowers is the best…
to top off the day, as I was making my supper I looked out and saw this goldfinch at the feeder…
haven’t seen many so far this year… got the best photo from upstairs…
sure am happy it is Friday…

been thinking of some fun times with my beloved…
for years we tried to grow clematis… at one point we had one that grew for two years along the neighbour’s garage… then it died off…
we tried everything from putting rocks over the roots, to digging deeper holes, to trying different varieties… but nothing seemed to work…
we would laugh because one of our neighbours had one that took up the whole side of her garage, lol…
for the last seven years or so this clematis has grown up the side of the house…
I’m always so excited when it comes up again… it is still rather scrawny looking…
but here it is with blossoms that are nearly ready to open…
what a treat…

this morning as I was walking down the stairs a wave of sadness swept over me… I was missing George so much, I could hardly stand it…
as I was leaving the house I got some shots of the clematis… we were both so excited that it continued to return year after year and bloom so beautifully…
many blooms on the clematis this morning…
I felt his loss all day… I had an appointment at CancerCare and remembered how he was always there for any appointment I had, just as I was always there for his appointments… Crystal wasn’t able to go with me for this one, and I was a bit nervous as the last two times the examination had been extremely painful… happily, today it was a piece of cake… I was in and out within 20 minutes…
when I got home and was taking off my shoes I looked down and saw this…
Cyndi wore these while she was here and they were just sitting at the front door…
hard to believe that there are such hard moments after 842 days…
great close up… took these before I even got into the car, lol…

this afternoon was given a bamboo plant…
reminded me of the one that a friend of the girls’ brought me four years ago when I had gall bladder surgery following a bad bout of pancreatitis…
it is still doing very nicely although I’ve been a bit remiss in watering, lol…
usually the plants in the house get watered on Saturday mornings… strange schedules have caused me to forgot for the last few weeks…
happily, when I went to take this picture, I remembered and it is now happily wet…
as I was heading out to work this morning, the clematis had buds opening, so I had to stop the car, climb out in a very awkward spot, reach into the back of the car to get my camera and then got this shot…
we had tried growing them for many years and this one finally took in 2010 and has come back each year since then…
