visited Shelmerdine to pick up their special ornament for this year…

in previous years I had got a beautiful porcelain dove and one year I got the beautiful heart for some of my friends;-)…

the one for this year is holly leaves and berries in silver metal…

a friend had picked me up to go and afterwards we went out for lunch… I had bruschetta and it was very tasty…

then it was home for a nap, lol…

such a lovely treat…

when I was cleaning and reorganizing the computer room, I came across a few items that I usually put out around Christmas, but with all the recent turmoil going on, felt like now was the time to bring them out…

one is a white dove that I hung onto the Japanese Maple in the front window…

and the other is a stunning card that a friend got me for Christmas many years ago, which I placed in the dining room where I can see it…

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time thinking of those around me who are dealing with health issues and heavy life events and I am feeling more calm as I gaze upon these…

yesterday I spent some time playing with my camera and flowers in the house…

working a bit with the macro feature…

got some good shots of the orchid… if you look at them just the right way you can see a dove…

also got a few pictures of the flowers in one of the bouquets on the main floor…

as everyone knows, flowers really help me through the cold and dark season… just looking at them makes me happy…

the great news is that every day there is a tiny bit more light;-)…

hopefulness…

always amazes me how some of the best photos happen…

I’ve been trying to get a great shot of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights for ages… when I am near it, I am either driving, in a car and going too quickly, or else something just isn’t right when I am walking in the area…

I have taken many photos of the building but nothing particularly good…

last night I was the passenger in a car as we went past and took a number of shots… cars and people kept interrupting a good shot, but when I checked my photos I found this great one…

I think the threatening sky had something to do with it…

the lighting in the Museum helped too…

earlier I had taken a very quick shot of an orchid that I walked past…

it came out nicely as well…

I often see a dove in close ups of orchids and they always remind me of hopefulness and my beloved…

kind of fun to have good shots of CMHR and an orchid taken so close together… both of which are such signs of hope…

a memorable photo day;-)…
