so far, I’ve had two grape tomatoes from my plants…
I started these in the house in a cardboard egg carton from wrinkled grape tomatoes that weren’t good enough to eat, lol…
rather pleased with the result…
also finally have one of the vine tomatoes starting… I found the seeds for these in a pile of items from our 2013 Alaska trip… wasn’t sure they would still be good;-)…
not sure how big this one will get, but happy to check daily;-)…
two very large goldfish… a white one and an orange one…
they came from a family who plan to move to fancier fish… the grandma brought them over with the oldest grandson’s Nanny, who connected us…
they left them with me once they put the bags in the water… after the fish acclimatized for about half an hour I freed them so they could meet everyone else…
once they were safely in the pond, I took some pictures to send to the family, via Nanny, so that the grandkids could see they were in a good home…
the pond and fish bring me such peace… what a lovely gift;-)…
spent most of the day in the garden, watching squirrels, chickadees, butterflies and goldfish…
watched a little red squirrel make hundreds of trips across the upper deck to collect sunflowers for its stash… saw the frog and a purple house finch, read and napped in the garden…
brought out some of the flowers I received yesterday to enjoy…
so happy to have this space to entertain and was pleased to have visitors from out of town… enjoyed steak and lobster for dinner and some quiet late night star gazing…
we were quite late in eating and I giggled a bit when I realized that I didn’t remember to take a picture of my supper…
went for a half hour walk this morning and spotted six bunnies…
they were everywhere…
only saw one squirrel until I got home, and then easily six in the garden within about twenty minutes, lol…
I was about fifteen minutes later than normal and there seemed to be way more people out and about… my walking partner slept through the alarm so I was on my own… I am pleased to be getting back on track with movement;-)…
started out with a puffy vest and long sleeved shirt because it was 13 degrees Celsius, but less than halfway through the walk I wanted to strip down… it got really hot in the sun…
my youngest grandson and I spent a few days together… it was lovely as we don’t get to spend the amount of one-on-one time that I have with the other boys…
we did a few chores around the garden and spent a great amount of time with the monarch butterflies…
we planned meals, watched the fish, birds and squirrels, and talked about life… he was even happy to take a selfie with me;-)…
we made stuffing muffins (chicken stuffing put into muffin pans), one of his favourites, lol… we had chicken and mashed potatoes for our supper to go along with the muffins… we made twice stuffed potatoes for our second supper and he reminded me to put in green onions as he likes the flavour they add to food now…
we watched the space station fly over from the hot tub…
we slept out on the decks… he thought it was a very funny thing to do, but got right into it, bringing out his comforter, a blanket and pillows;-)… I slept in the gravity chair, which wasn’t as comfortable as the lounger I normally use…
he played games with his friends on his phone and watched tv shows when it was too hot (and maybe boring) for him outside…
how wonderful it was for me to have these special moments with this young man;-)…
yesterday morning my youngest grandson was dropped off at ten by his two older brothers who were heading off to a two-day Pokémon event…
about fifteen minutes after they left he spotted the first of our monarchs as it emerged from the lily of the valley where they had gone to turn into their chrysalis stage… I had been watching this chrysalis for a number of days as it was the only one we could find…
perfect timing, and he spotted three more as they came out to dry their wings…
the first one had a wasp attached to its wing and it took me quite a while to get it off… not sure if that hurt it or whether the wasp had already injured it…
the others eventually flew off after their wings dried out, but this little male spent most of the day with us… finally it was gone, so we are hoping that it was able to fly…
yesterday my son-in-law came by and we had a lovely visit and cup of tea on the deck… it was quite cool at that time…
he fixed the chairs I’ve been trying to redo, without any problem, lol… I did learn how to cut through plastic using the clamp on the counter in the garage…
it got really hot and muggy as he cleaned up some bits of carpet that had been dissolving alongside of the garage… after he finished, we walked over to pick up burgers from The Burger Place…
we had lunch in the garden and he headed out to his next activity…
been walking with my daughter the last few weeks… on the phone, lol…
this is encouraging me to get up and out for a stroll… everyday I have gone a bit further and have enjoyed our time together….
it is nice to have a companion and there is no worry about physical distancing…
here are a few photos I’ve taken as we walked…
got this shot of the elementary school that the girls went to many years ago, lol…
great way to start the day – exercise and check-in;-)…
yesterday we walked a bit longer and I went as far as the Park… the English Garden doesn’t open until 9 now, due to Covid-19, and we walk at about 7:15, so that’s too bad, lol… it felt good to get to the Park as I hadn’t been there yet this year and I sure do miss it…
I am finding that I am less nervous the more that I get out and walk, although I am very careful to step to the side if someone is coming towards me…
