this morning I had a cup of my favourite tea with a bowl of red curry lentils and rice… not my usual breakfast…

yesterday I made the curry as a gift, and kept a tiny portion for me… and apparently was craving it…

we had ribs and potato salad for supper… delicious… always love the first potato salad of the year;-)…

so happy about the tea… great to have a full box… it makes it even more special and I enjoyed every sip…

also got the waterfall running, and the fish are in the pond…

my grandson and I are planning to pick up some new goldfish in the next few weeks as we are down to three… it will be nice to have a small school, lol… hopefully the big ones won’t eat the new little ones…

I went snorkelling today and it felt like the first time ever…

I’ve been in Mexico, but with terrible equipment, and in Alaska, where it was cold and we were dressed in wetsuits…

so today was amazing… and a bit scary at the beginning… I kept feeling as though I was going to stop breathing through my mouth and swallow the ocean…

there were lots of waves and I’d been hoping for calm… took a while, but eventually I got the hang of it…

my daughter hated the mouthpiece but stayed with me and showed me all kinds of fish, large and small; sea urchins; and coral… as always she spots things way before I do…

it was a bit like swimming in a fish tank…

when we came out of the water I could barely walk, lol… it is strenuous work;-)…

we left everything in the car except for our chairs and the snorkelling gear so there weren’t any pictures at the time…

afterwards, we brought the rest of our stuff down… had a picnic lunch and enjoyed people watching for a while under our umbrella… the wind came up and eventually we had to put the umbrella down, at which point we realized how hot it was and that it was time to leave… just before we left I took a few photos of the area…

the above photos are from the entire beach, clockwise from the left to the right…

this is the section where we snorkelled… the fish were all around the rocks…

here we are having some fun just before we left;-)…

turned the calendar over on Monday and found this lovely picture…

on Sunday the kids caught most of the fish;, emptied, cleaned and filled the tank; and later in the evening I poured them into their condo…

we think there are still a few in the pond, although I haven’t spotted any when coming or going through the garden…

made me think of the year that George brought them in the first week of December and had to break the ice on the pond;-)…

what a lovely day…

started with an early wake up, a drive across town, a packed up truck with a boat behind it… I love the boat…

then we drove to Falcon Lake, put the boat into the water and went fishing… my son-in-law caught a fish right away… then we waited patiently for the fish and they never came… quite a while later the sky clouded over and we headed in to the dock…

put the boat back on the trailer and just got the cover on it when it started to spit… had to run to the store for a lock and it poured all the way there and back… then it stopped for about two minutes… just long enough to get the lock on…

afterwards we went out for lunch, drove around to check out our campsite for next week, and headed home…

the closer we got to the city the clearer the sky became;-)… now it is pouring here, lol…

so happy this morning as I was able to top up the pond easily…

over the winter the connection at the wall had broken so that only one hose could be hooked up instead of the two I need…

this meant that every time the pond needed water I had to drag out the hose to fill it and then drag it back to put it away… which usually ended up with my hands black from the hose and smelling like rubber…

looked for quite a while to find a replacement and eventually found one last week… on Sunday my grandson was over and hooked it up for me…

excited when I arrived home tonight and found the fish out and about in the pond…

happy they are finally more comfortable and connecting to the space…

I was so excited yesterday when the sound of the waterfall filled the garden…

the kids came over and did a number of jobs around the house and garden… I had made a list for each person of what needed to be done and the items were checked off one by one…

my son-in-law dealt with the pond… he did have a bit of help from the younger boys as they helped clean out the leaves…

the pond was up and running before supper… after supper the fish moved from their winter condo to their summer home… they are really big now although for a while they will be hiding as they get reacquainted with the space…

tonight all the windows are open and I can hear the sound of running water…

last night I took a few pictures of the paper whites and the amaryllis… they are all starting to really move as they stretch up to the light…

hopeful that they will produce some flowers close to the holidays… am trying to take time every day to enjoy their growth…

tonight I took a few pictures… the plants, the fish, and the view from my seat on the couch…

this is not my usual spot but the tv in the bedroom is behaving very badly so I am watching in the main floor tv/guest room, lol…

seems like a lot is going on around me these days… dealing with the car accident and driving a rental car that has amazingly touchy brakes… issues with the hot tub not working properly after being repaired… trying to find a reasonably priced mattress… and now the silly tv…

the good news is that I am surrounded by flowers;-)…

what a lovely day… kids arrived and we decided to head out to get a few pumpkins… on our way we FaceTimed with the kids in Ottawa… good to see them and share Thanksgiving greetings…

we’ve been trying to get to Schwabe Pumpkins for a few weeks… it was chilly and rain came down a few times while we were there, but fun, and we really enjoyed the colours as we drove there and back…

when we got home the boys caught the fish, cleaned and got the aquarium going, and moved the fish into their condo…

the youngest two reorganized the sea shells as we talked about the fun we had in Mexico in March…

dinner was delicious and cleanup was quick with all the help… leftovers for here and there were packed up and they headed home…

I certainly appreciated having their company for the day… now to bed…

still thinking of my beloved…

took this shot of the fish in the pond this morning…

the pond looks different now, but he loved working in all of them… through winter he would make sure the fish were cozy in their condo in the house, and it was always exciting when it was time to move out to the pond… often he would have little helpers to assist with the transfer…

over the last while one of my colleagues has been sharing updates on her orchids… this morning she brought the small one to my desk to show me the newest blossom…

George often brought orchids into the office … one of his colleagues who worked in the seasonal area would let him know when a new batch of orchids had arrived and say you better get some for your wife…

and he would, and bring them to the office as well… this is one of those he brought in and my colleague has looked after it beautifully… think this is the third time since he died that it has bloomed… another larger one is nearly ready to bloom under her amazing orchid fingers…

usually I only use my own photos, but tonight another colleague sent me two of the above shots that show the bloom…

what wonderful memories… I have been truly blessed…
