today we walked by the spot along the creek where we scattered my beloved’s ashes…
it was nice to wander past…
just a moment later I spotted this monarch in a field of wild flowers…
felt like a sign from him;-)…

on Monday morning we went to the Park Café for breakfast with my BS buddies and then took a stroll around the English and Leo Mol Gardens…
my son-in-law and I walked over and met the rest of the group inside the restaurant… it was wonderful to finally get there, as it had been a long time… breakfast was tasty and my favourite server mentioned how she had missed seeing me😊…
it was the first time I’ve been back in the Gardens for at least a few years and they were full of colour and blooms…
what a lovely way to usher in the week…

started the morning gathering up all my bouquets, combining a few together, and tidying up another…
a bit sad as the glads were done…
then I took out the drill and put the second screw into the motion sensor on the deck… angling it as my son-in-law suggested… and it worked perfectly…
the rocks that were holding it up are now back in amongst the trees…

went to the Wolseley Farmers Market with a friend and had a great time…
came home with a bag filled with beans, peas, green onions, a zucchini, baby potatoes, garlic, bread, a mushroom galette, and a beet and pesto treat…
and two gorgeous stalks of purple gladiola;-)…

besides being my support group, my friends bring me good luck…
I’ve only spotted swallowtail butterflies two or three times so far this summer and two of those were when they were over…
a few days ago I caught this long shot of one on the deck…
and then I found eggs on both of my parsley plants… which I only buy for the butterflies;-)…
maybe, just maybe, there will be caterpillars…
then I spotted this one… they sure move quickly, lol…

dragonflies have been flying around the garden like crazy…
some have been dropping eggs into the pond, but most of them are clearly snatching mosquitoes out of the air…
I’ve managed to catch a few when they are taking a little break;-)…

drove to Oak Street on Tuesday, just before the rain, to pick up my bouquet subscription…
I took a box that hooked into the seatbelt so that the flowers wouldn’t fall over… it worked perfectly…
such a treat to get fresh flowers every week… and they are lasting very well…
got a few photos as the drops started to fall…

the rain came down really heavy on Tuesday morning…
when I went out to check the garden I saw that one of the tomato plants had been knocked over… I was so shocked I didn’t even get a picture…
thankfully, I had a tomato cage in the garage, and it took a bit of finagling to get it over the plant… apparently it should have happened when the plant was much smaller, lol…
also pleased to see lots of flowers and the beginnings of the cucumbers;-)…

the other day I saw a monarch flying around the garden and laying eggs on the milkweed…
I went to check out the two milkweed plants that are just by the waterfall to see if any eggs had been left there…
and it was there that I discovered this little caterpillar… of course this is the hardest spot to get any pictures, lol…
and I was happy to still see it after the downpour…
nature is amazing…
