had a great time with my buddies…
we usually meet every week, but over the holidays we didn’t gather, so I was very happy to see them today;-)…
had a fun time preparing the coffee, setting out pistachios and digging out some cookies to share…
we always have a good time when we gather…
excellent start to the new year…

on Wednesday I had a lovely lunch with my BS buddies… we went to the Olympia Diner and had delicious food, lots of laughs and shared great stories…
it was quite the process for us all to get there as car trouble caused a bit of excitement, but eventually we all made it…
the food is always tasty and the portions are large… I had spanakopita, with lemon potatoes and Caesar salad, and had leftovers for the next day…
parcels were exchanged (which will be opened on Christmas), and one gift was our lunch… a lovely treat…
we always try to get a holiday photo and our waitperson took a number of photos to be sure we had a good one…
these women are so important to me and such a gift;-)…

as the holiday season approaches, I’ve been thinking about friends who are going through difficult times…
seems the air is filled with illness… many are dealing with infections and some, even more serious stuff…
feeling like I should be doing more to support them, but not sure how to do that other than sending thoughts and prayers their way…
it also feels like it is becoming less safe away from the house, and I am moving back into hermit-ville…

because it was another gorgeous day, our Monday gathering took place on the deck for one last time…
I moved the furniture, swept all the leaves off, cleaned the glass table, and put cushion covers on the chairs…
as I was sweeping the lower deck, it occurred to me that I could have used the leaf blower, lol… oh well, good exercise, lol…
and, we were treated to a freshly baked Bundt cake;-)… yum…
the sun shone and it did cool off a little, but we were very comfortable… what a treat in the middle of October…

October 14th there will be a solar eclipse…
I was able to purchase some eclipse glasses from Manitoba Museum and have them mailed to me…
since then I’ve given some to my BS buddies…
we are thinking about an eclipse party on the 14th, although the weather may not cooperate…
looking forward to the day…

had a great time on Monday, when I met with my BS buddies at the Park Cafe for a celebration lunch…
it was amazing because it was the birthday person’s birthday, lol… we don’t often have the celebration on their actual day…
we were there for a few hours…
the restaurant wasn’t too full, we had a lovely waitperson, the meal with very tasty, and we had lots of laughs and conversation (as always)…
these women have been my lifeline for over thirty-five years…

I’ve spotted the hummingbird a number of times in the garden over the last few weeks… I have basically given up trying to get a photo, lol…
last Sunday I was in the living room on the phone with my daughter and looked out the window to see the hummy shoot by…
that made me go out to the garage to find the hummingbird feeder, bring it into the house, make syrup and fill the feeder… took it out and hung it in the garden near the purple flowers it seemed to like…
I sat out for awhile to watch for it, but nothing…
the next day, my buddies were here and when one tasted her coffee she spit it out… apparently I had put salt in the sugar bowl… which had also been what I used to make the syrup for the feeder… no wonder nobody showed up to drink from it…
brought the feeder back in, made real syrup, and put it outside…
maybe the hummingbird will come back, but it looks like it may have headed south;-(…

went for a drive with my adventure partner…
drove just outside the city to Jonathan’s Farm to collect the veggies we both ordered online…
it was a sunny day and the drive was relaxing…
there was no one around when we arrived although I spotted someone in the field way down the way, lol…
we gathered up our produce and headed home…
the one thing we noticed was all the crazy drivers on the road, lol… Friday and everyone was in a hurry to get somewhere 🤪…
looking forward to some delicious meals…

had a wonderful day Monday…
it was overcast but I put out all the cushions and set up the chairs for the afternoon gathering with my buddies…
then I sat quietly in the garden as a sweet little hummingbird flew around gathering nectar from a few flowers… it particularly liked one of the hanging baskets that has deep purple flowers… it came and went a number of times before heading off to its next destination…
of course I didn’t have the camera out so the photos I got with my phone were pretty bad, lol…
after lunch my friends arrived and we had a great visit together… these days I make suntea and we always have pistachios as a snack, maybe with some chocolate;-)…
once everyone left, I followed the shade around the garden, enjoyed my book and the visit from one of my bunny friends…
I am certainly savouring these beautiful days in the garden…

picked up this week’s bouquet subscription on Thursday…
thanks to my friend, after we stopped at the Wolseley Farmers Market where we picked up fresh veggies, we headed to River Heights to get the bouquet…
it is always fun to choose which bouquet to bring home…
