this morning I was up at my usual time… it was dark…
the sun rose forty-five minutes later… this is very sad… a clear sign of what is to come…
it was light when I left and there were many, many, morning glories blooming in the garden…
this week I started back on vitamin D…

two storms during the night and the power was off… not sure for how long, but it came back on at 6 am… I know that because I heard what sounded like a car not starting… after a few minutes I realized it was the printer coming on line…
the sky was still quite angry…
when I got home had a beautiful view as I came out of the garage into the garden… even after an all-day overcast sky, the morning glories were smiling at me…
ended the very long week with a delicious treat… a bit of chocolate, almonds and two shortbread cookies from my stash, lol… 
happy weekend;-)…

a few days ago I turned on the radiant heater in the bathroom because the floor was chilly…
sun is going down earlier and coming up later every day… seems like it was just June and here it is September, sigh…
also I’ve been noticing that the trees and plants are changing colour… the cedars are filled with cones… have never seen so many before… seems too soon to be fall…

haven’t had any morning glories bloom for the last week…
so this morning I was happy to see two buds, although they weren’t open… I love how they unfurl from a tightly twisted centre…
I figured that they would open and then close before I got home after work…
was very pleased to discover eight blooms in the garden that were still open…
what a lovely surprise…

this morning as I was leaving for work I was looking for morning glories amongst the mandevilla…
not a single one, but took some nice pics of the mandevilla covered in raindrops…
it poured around five in the morning and that made for some pretty pictures…
sure am missing my camera;(…

three great things before I even left the driveway this morning…
a stunning sky… couldn’t really get a picture that showed how orange the sun was…
then as I was headed to the garage I spotted morning glory flowers… the first ones of the year…
while I was searching for more blooms spotted my neighbour and after checking in with him he shared cucumbers and tomatoes with me…
dropped them into the house, took one final picture of the morning glories and headed off to work…
pretty fine way to start the day…

today I continued with the packing…
my youngest grandson came over for a few hours and we spent time in the hot tub and filled the pond… we also counted down the days till we go camping…
we had Chinese food leftovers and managed a selfie… took both of us to get it, lol… it was lovely because he usually doesn’t want to be in pictures…
after he was picked up I went outside and watched two gold finches fly away from the feeder… so I sat outside for half an hour, but they did not return…

out into the garden this morning…
watered all the planters and baskets using water from the new water barrel…
watering by hand works much better than using the hose as I am able to see exactly how much each plant is getting…
also topped up the pond… seems like it needs filling about every third day…
this basket is doing the best… some of the others are a bit sad… the weather has been odd with boiling hot days and then really cool ones…
we won’t talk about the inconsistent watering, lol…

last night I had my annual sleepout…
I miss camping and this is a fun way to get the feeling… also a great opportunity to see the stars;-)…
it is a process and I left it a bit late to get organized… it was dark by the time I brought up the air mattress from the basement… I always put down a comforter underneath to be sure that no slivers puncture the mattress…
I couldn’t find the cap that goes on once it was filled with air… searched upstairs where it had last been set up but could not find the cap… came downstairs thinking there wasn’t going to be a sleepout… started to take out the pump, only to discover the cap was on a string which was inside where the pump was, lol… clearly I should have done the set up in the light…
then it was on to bringing up comforters and bringing down pillows…
had a great sleep, although the mattress went down a bit, likely because it cooled off a bit… not a single mosquito, woo hoo…
a lovely view to wake up to… took everything down, put things away, had a hot tub and then the sky clouded over…
great timing… looks like it will be overcast and rainy most of the day…

Friday morning got to spend time with my sister-in-law who was in from Calgary for the weekend…
picked her up at the airport and headed over to the Park Cafe for breakfast and a wander around the Duck Pond and Gardens…
was able to see the new island in the Duck Pond… it will filter the water in the pond and help with algae control… looks really neat… a duck or two came up to us as we were admiring the pond…
had a wonderful visit as we checked out the Gardens… got a fun shot of three wheelbarrows lined up as a crew of gardeners were weeding a bed at the entrance to the Leo Mol Garden…
haven’t seen my sister-in-law for ages so it was a real treat to spend time with her… she was married to my brother and when they divorced we kept her and let him go;-)…
