had some fun Tuesday morning in the garden…

happy to see the first hibiscus flower open… it didn’t seem to bloom as much as usual through winter…

and noticed begonias, tiny poppies and more bachelor buttons… the bachelor buttons have gone crazy, lol…

I’m hoping to capture some of their seeds and sprinkle them throughout the garden;-)…

and at last I saw some beans, purple ones, woohoo…

I even pulled weeds from the fancy morning glory planter…

they were planted late so I am hoping they will bloom before it gets too cold…

feels great as the garden is beginning to produce ;-)…

the lawn didn’t get mowed last Sunday because the grass hadn’t grown much, and this Sunday because it rained most of the day…

my friends were coming over yesterday afternoon so I decided to mow and whipper snip the garden… I waited until just before noon to give it more time to dry out…

moved a chair and some tables and then figured out how to get the mower going (been a while since I used it)… there are many things in the garden so it takes a bit of effort to get around them, even though it is a small space…

once that was done I pulled down the whipper snipper, found the battery, attached it, and went around all the edges… apparently, at some point I should have tapped it on the ground to extend the line that does the cutting…

I was rather pleased with the result, and then put the furniture back…

just before I brought out the cushions, it started to rain😣…

so we met in the house, lol…

I was disappointed today… plans had been made for weeks to have my middle grandson come and help the oldest prep and lay new carpet on the front steps…

I was up at 7:30… it was overcast, but not wet, and I took some nice photos of various morning glories…

then, it rained (which we needed) for most of the day… didn’t stop until around three… that of course destroyed all of the morning glory flowers🥺…

made me sad as I was looking forward to this project getting finished… it had already been delayed once and we’ve had the carpet and glue all ready for ages…

now we will have to wait for another opportunity to make the carpeting happen, sigh…

had a lovely time on this warm day…

started with an early morning F1 sprint race… it was too funny, because I slept in till seven which is quite unusual and the race started at 4:30, but I had PVRed it, lol…

I was outside for a good portion of the day and enjoyed the fish and morning glories…

later in the afternoon I watched diving, including some outdoors from twenty metres… yikes…

it is so high that they enter the water feet-first with their arms at their sides…

I do enjoy watching various sports;-)…

it is interesting how some days the flowers put on a show and other days they look ragged and very sad…

today the pansies next to the house were very happy…

just a few days ago I was thinking they were completely done…

only one morning glory was open, but it was lovely…

still waiting for the mandevilla and hibiscus to bloom;-)…

lots to look forward to…

another smoky day here…

all the windows were closed overnight and all of today… I miss the fresh air…

was only outside for a few minutes this morning to check on the morning glories;-)…

rest of the day was in front of the tv, lol… athletics, gymnastics, and binge watching shows…

a delightful day in the garden… the weather was perfect… sunny, but not too hot…

I moved around the garden, following the shade and reading my book;-)…

although, there were constant interruptions as sparrows, squirrels, and bunnies kept me looking up from my reading…

the sparrows have dug holes in the spaces between the stepping stones along the edge of the pond… two or three of them are at least an inch or so deep… the birds really enjoy dust baths…

one squirrel spent ages trying to figure out how to get to the seeds in the squirrel-proof feeder…

happily it never figured it out…

not sure if there were one or two bunnies, lol… one spent quite some time under the bird feeder amongst the iris leaves scoffing down any fallen seeds…

and maybe the same one, or another, having a nap in the grass…

lovely to have so much activity in the space…

this morning we drove to Miss Millie’s Flower Farm and had a lovely time in the fields…

my adventure buddy gathered flowers, and I gathered photographs with my Nikon… great fun for both of us…

of the 125 photos I took, I was very pleased with about 75…

the weather was perfect, overcast and cool, and there were few bugs… we had been there in August of 2022 and the mosquitoes had been voracious at that time…

the fields were not as far along due to the weather but it is a beautiful place to spend time in… so happy I remembered that taking pictures was more fun for me than gathering flowers;-)… and nice to get the camera out for a change;-)…

I also brought home some fresh eggs and a new tea mug (Sugar & Spice Pottery);-)…
