went for my annual eye exam, and while I was waiting, saw a former work colleague…
had a lovely catch-up…
I went through the gamut of tests and then got to spend time with my doctor… I’ve been going to him for ten years and they’ve been gathering data on my eyes over all that time… I don’t mind waiting, because when he is with me, there is no rushing through the explanations and all questions are answered…
eyes are in good shape and I learned a new way to clean my glasses while I was there…
will give it a try and see if it makes cleaning them simpler;-)…
in April I tried to get in to see my eye doctor at Armstrong and Small… I hadn’t been since 2019 and had noticed that my vision was not what it used to be… knew that I would need new glasses…
I was able to get an appointment for the beginning of June and was in the office for over two hours… my eyes were fine, but there was quite a bit of conversation about getting new glasses between my optometrist and the optician helping me with the glasses…
they ordered some frames and I went back about a week later to try them on… they looked good so we moved forward with ordering them…
I have nearly always had glass lenses, but they are nearly impossible to get now… after much discussion, plastic lenses, made in Canada, were ordered and would likely take about three weeks to arrive…
my current lenses have a slub on the right side… the purpose was to help my eyes focus as the prescription in the eyes is so different… we are going to try something else this time, so will see how it goes…
on Tuesday I got a call that the glasses were in and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday…
went in, had them adjusted, tested the magnetic sunglasses clip, and brought them home… loving the purple case, lol…
I am getting used to them and can see better, which is the most important thing;-)…
yesterday, I headed out to see the eye doctor and had to return to the house because I forgot my mask🤪…
I took out another one and put it into the glove compartment so if I forget again, there will be one available…
I was there for over two hours… apparently, my eyes and my current glasses are special, lol… the attention to detail and care of clients is quite amazing in these days of get ‘em in and get ‘em out… we also did some looking at new frames and discussed a number of possibilities for lenses…
as I drove up to the house, I found Hilda the Gardener just going into the garden with a beautiful hanging basket which she brought for me as a gift…
after she left I noticed that the lawn had been mowed, which was great as the grass had grown a lot with all the rain…
I’ve worn contact lenses off and on for 40 years although for the last few years I haven’t worn any, as I’ve had a bit of trouble with my eyesight and some infections in my eyes…
have gone through a period where I didn’t see as well with the contacts in, so there wasn’t much sense in wearing them…
got a new prescription a while back and the other day when I put my contacts in I realized that one was missing… couldn’t find it anywhere around the sink so just thought “I guess it’s gone”…
first time I’ve ever lost a contact like that although over the years my beloved was always there to help me if I did misplace one…
when I got home from work that night I discovered the contact sitting on the edge of the sink, all dried up… too funny…
just a few days ago I took my contacts out and put my glasses on, only to realize that I still had a contact in one of my eyes…
this afternoon I headed over to Graham Avenue to get my contacts checked…
been wearing a few different test lenses for about two weeks and have been very pleased with the improvement in my vision…
with the last contacts I had, I never did get good vision for close up items and long distance wasn’t that great either… I had concluded that glasses were going to be my best option…
she experimented with a different contact and I had to wait a few minutes for it to settle onto my eye…
as I left, got this picture of one of the pop-up parks…
looking forward to the new lenses and better vision…
sadly it is back to glasses as I wait for the new ones to arrive…
Tuesday morning I texted my son-in-law to see if he could stop by and check out the dishwasher…
the day before it had stopped working… the powdered soap was still in it and it looked like it had run without water…
I had tried to turn it off and on without success so had contacted him as he is very good with small motors…
it took a few days for me to wash everything that was in it… I don’t mind washing dishes… except glasses, never feel as though they get clean…
he didn’t make it over until this afternoon… at first he thought it was dead, but then he fiddled with a few things and discovered something was stuck and once he popped it back down the dishwasher worked…
when I was at the first Dollarama gathering the bits and pieces for the Easter tablescape, I purchased two lovely glasses… they are an interesting shape and have a bit of purple around the bottom…
they fit on the shelf in the cupboard, which is important and I really like the feel of them in my hand…
yesterday I went back and picked up eight more…
tossed out the old ones which had turned all foggy from the dishwasher and must have been at least ten years old… they weren’t even good enough to donate, lol…
finding glasses that feel good in my hand always seems difficult, but I am pleased with these ones…
also picked up a couple of bowls with the same pattern…
giggling to myself tonight after feeding the fish… they were in such a hurry to eat that they splashed my face, hands and shirt… they are only getting fed once a day now and are feeling like they are suffering…
