the first water lily flower never did really open since the weather had turned cold and rainy…
the second bud came up and opened… this picture was taken yesterday when it was completely open…
today this looks to be about the last of that one…
there is still another bud coming up… hoping for warm, sunny, weather…

another delightful day in the garden, especially after the last number of cool and overcast days…
spotted a hibiscus blossom, so that was a treat…
next, I went into the pond to clean out the pump… the leaves have been falling like crazy and there were a ton in the water… once the pump has been cleaned out, the waterfall always flows beautifully…
all the cushions went out and a dear friend arrived with lunch… we ate inside as the wasps are very busy in the garden…
we moved outside and had a lovely time by the pond catching up on life…
after she left, I read in the garden for the remainder of the day;-)…
soaking up every minute possible in this sanctuary…

getting rather used to using Uber…
Friday, I took three, lol…
I appreciate how quick they are… each one today arrived within two minutes of my ordering the ride…
the cars were clean and the drivers were friendly…
I also appreciate that I know the cost from the beginning and don’t feel any stress if traffic is slow or detours needed…

the other day a friend took away the fire pit, (which hadn’t been working for ages and was currently living in the shed), to see if he could get it going again…
I had almost put it in the lane to get picked up by someone, but decided to keep it and see if anyone could fix the silly thing…
he brought it back with his propane tank to demonstrate how to light it…
it appears that I wasn’t holding the gas button long enough…
so I added in the glass bits, tried to light it, and it didn’t work, sigh…
next, I moved the glass pieces away from the gas tube and when I tried it again, it worked…
I am a happy camper;-)…

spent some time yesterday changing the den to a bedroom;-)…
furniture was moved inside and outside of the room… a second mattress was brought down from upstairs to make the pullout couch more comfy, a quilt came up from the basement, and then the bed was made up in anticipation of company…
a basket of towels was put together, a bigger fan moved into the space, and a little rosebush was added to brighten it…
post its were added to advise the proper names to use when speaking with the household technology so that lights would go on and off as requested, lol…
looks very cozy…

the morning glories are exploding…
on Tuesday I counted twenty-six on the obelisk next to the back door… happy I took some nice photos before it rained, lol… the rain completely destroys them…
today I didn’t count, but I think there may have been even more, and there were two blue ones on the butterfly bench;-)…

Wednesday was such a lovely day…
started the morning with Hilda the Gardener, who arrived to do some maintenance in the garden… I’ve been thinking of the change that she has made to the space over the years;-)…
it always feels so fresh and tidy after her time here…
while she was working away, I picked beans and peas, and spotted some cucumbers starting, yay…
then a friend stopped by with a bag of books for me and I had a bag for her as well;-)…
we hadn’t seen one another for ages and had a great catch-up…
after they both left, I read and relaxed in this lovely space…

it is interesting how some days the flowers put on a show and other days they look ragged and very sad…
today the pansies next to the house were very happy…
just a few days ago I was thinking they were completely done…
only one morning glory was open, but it was lovely…
still waiting for the mandevilla and hibiscus to bloom;-)…
lots to look forward to…

this morning we drove to Miss Millie’s Flower Farm and had a lovely time in the fields…
my adventure buddy gathered flowers, and I gathered photographs with my Nikon… great fun for both of us…
of the 125 photos I took, I was very pleased with about 75…
the weather was perfect, overcast and cool, and there were few bugs… we had been there in August of 2022 and the mosquitoes had been voracious at that time…
the fields were not as far along due to the weather but it is a beautiful place to spend time in… so happy I remembered that taking pictures was more fun for me than gathering flowers;-)… and nice to get the camera out for a change;-)…
I also brought home some fresh eggs and a new tea mug (Sugar & Spice Pottery);-)…

this morning I picked the peas from the side garden;-)…
had to use the step stool to get the higher ones and my housemate picked the last couple that I couldn’t reach…
I spent a lovely fifteen minutes shelling them…
then boiled and ate them for lunch…
