Tuesday we went to Costco and I got a new set of attachments for the hose…
sadly, the current attachment has been leaking for awhile and the hose doesn’t expand without an attachment…
hoping that all three will work well… fingers crossed…

yesterday was a beautiful day… the sun shone and the temperature made it to 6° Celsius…
took the opportunity to top up the water in the hot tub…
now that the hose is hooked up in the basement it is a bit of a process…
the hose comes upstairs and just reaches to the outside of the door… then it has to be turned on with pliers at the tap at which point it expands so I can reach the hot tub…
takes a while to fill it to above the top hole on the filter, then I run downstairs and close the tap, again with the pliers… and run back up as the hose starts to contract before it yanks out of the tub… and finally taking the hose downstairs and hanging it up for the next time…
so I did get a bit of exercise;-)…

was able to use the water from both water barrels to add some moisture to the grass…
used a hose for a good portion, but then had to tip the barrels over and watched the water soaking in…
once they were empty, I put them back on their stands upside down…
ready for the next season;-)…

this morning, I dragged the hose up from the basement, out through the backdoor, and into the tub…
last night I had a great time in the hot tub, but had to scrunch down as the water was rather low…
only took about ten minutes to fill it up… now we will see if it gets up to temp by tonight;-)…

it was around zero, so today’s project involved hooking up the extendible hose in the basement and then topping up the hot tub…
in the process of connecting the hose I had to go out to the garage for a washer… at which point I discovered that the garage side door wouldn’t open… I tried the key, as it seemed locked, but that didn’t work…
I went in through the overhead door and tried to open it from that side, but no luck there either…
in previous winters the problem had been that it wouldn’t stay closed, lol…
so, will have to see what happens in the next while, sigh…

well, I am a happy camper…
the hot tub has needed a top-up for a number of weeks, but every time it has been warm enough, or not snowing, the lid has been frozen shut…
and the less water in it the more the jets run and more water evaporates…
today I was able to go out and open it… yay… it took nearly fifteen minutes to top it up so I was pleased to get it done…
I’m not exactly sure that I can open both covers enough to get in it, but at least it has enough water for awhile…
the extendable hose works perfectly… it runs up the stairs and out the door easily so the filling part is simple…
there is a lot of snow out there, lol…

it snowed quite a bit overnight and when I looked out the bedroom window this morning I thought I had best get out and clear the sidewalk… particularly after my learning earlier about not leaving the snow to get stuck, lol…
when I arrived in the living room the sidewalk was clear;-)… obviously the snow clearing fairy had come by…
that was nice and I sent a text to my neighbour, who may have been that fairy…
later I went and shovelled the deck and hot tub area as the tub needed water… I hadn’t realized how much snow had fallen…
I am so pleased with my extendible hose as it makes adding water much easier…now the hose runs up the stairs and out the back door, instead of through a vent in the wall…
then, while the tub was filling, I shovelled as far back as the garbage can…
a bit later, while I was eating lunch, I heard a snowblower going and thought it was the neighbour behind doing his driveway, but when I checked my garage camera discovered it was the snow clearing fairy cleaning my driveway…
what a generous gift;-)… the driveway is long and this will save my grandson’s back when he stops by for a short garage visit in a few days…
what a kind Christmas gift…

the weather was delightful and I spent a good portion of the day emptying and refilling the hot tub…
I got a new pump in the summer to use for removing the water from the tub… the hose was a bit on the short side, so had to use a table to get the water into the grass… it took 3 hours, including using a pail and dumping bucket after bucket… may be getting something that works a bit quicker next year;-(…
once it was empty, I ran the extendible hose up from the basement, through the screen door, over the deck, and filled the tub in just over an hour…
a few tense minutes when the electricity on the tub didn’t seem to want to start… but, at last, it started and will now be heating up for a few days…
won’t have to change the water out until Spring… glad that job is done…

silly waterfall continues to leak so I am now turning it off at night…
it had been working perfectly until I fell in and messed it up…
the nights are much quieter…
between it and watering the grass every day my water bill is going to be a bit high, lol…
tonight as I was doing a final walk through, I heard running water and realized that water was pouring out of the neighbour’s hose… gave them a quick call and they were able to get it stopped…

I am loving my new hose…
it reaches to the front step with ease and I can also get to all the plants and pots in the shade garden as well…
lots of room to get to each of the hanging baskets to give them a drink…
I’ve been having fun trying different routes with it, to see which ones I like the best…
and it barely takes up any room when it is put away… unlike the old one which wouldn’t hang properly as it had a mind of its own, lol…
