I woke up rather early and was laying in bed trying to decide whether to get up or try to go back to sleep…
as I lay there I heard my sixteen-month-old neighbour chatting with one (or both) of his parents… there weren’t distinct words, just the sound of his voice;-)…
I don’t usually hear anything from him so the windows and wind must have been in just the right configuration…
made me think of when the girls were that little and the early morning happy chats;-)…
yesterday, after getting the den turned into a guestroom, I put a quilt on the bed for when my Ottawa daughter arrives;-)…
today, this memory came up on my Facebook page… it was from eleven years ago when her friends came and redid my bedroom… it was a wonderful gift as shortly after that I had surgery and spent a lot of time in the bedroom…
too funny that I chose that particular quilt;-)… and a reminder of that wonderful gift…
today, as I was enjoying the dill pickle soup that I didn’t eat when we were at Taverna Rodos on Monday, I remembered a lovely story shared by a friend…
with the soup, they included some Premium Plus Salted Top Cracker look-alikes… because the box is pretty big I haven’t had them in a very long time, so it was a nice treat… my favourite way to eat them is as a little sandwich, with butter or margarine…
my friend and their family really enjoy food, so they had quite a variety of crackers in their home…
one day one of the kids came home and advised that they had just had the most delicious crackers and that the family should get some…
it took a while, but eventually they were able to name them as Premium Plus Crackers…
so funny that with all the fancy crackers they had, the kids had never had the Premium ones…
such a chuckle, particularly as in my home that was the only type of cracker we ever had;-)…
Monday was our group’s first gathering in the garden this year…
we started out by the pond and when it got too hot and sunny, we moved to the upper deck… I am going to put out a few more umbrellas next time…
there was sun-tea, snacks and lots of conversation… I didn’t take a single picture, not even of the garden, lol… I did find this one of the five of us after our fancy tea…
we reminisced about our fabulous High Tea at Lily Stone Cafe the week before and began considering where we might go next;-)…
one of the loveliest things that has happened over the last few years is that we have been able to meet throughout the summer… for many years, everyone would have places to go and things to do, so we wouldn’t gather from July until September… now it has worked out that we are able to be together for most weeks of summer…
early Monday morning I unplugged the hot tub again and put the pump in to empty it…
with the new hose it only takes about fifteen minutes… so much better than the old two hour procedure…
Mike from Krevco arrived later and moved the tub away from the wall… then he spent a good half hour trying to remove the bolt in the broken arm…
eventually both arms were attached and the lid was back on… yay…
once my grandson got home in the evening we were able to get the hot tub back into the correct spot… sounds easy, but if it isn’t in just the correct place, the lids won’t open… but we got it into place and then it took an hour and a half to fill…
a slow process, but done… then it was restarted and will take quite a while to come up to temperature as it is plugged into an outlet, not hardwired, lol…
tonight I have been adding the start-up chemicals, with twenty minutes between each addition, and am looking forward to a lovely late evening time in it;-)…
Sunday (well, Mother’s Day) will mark the fourteenth year since I had the first dip in it;-)…
we gathered in two vehicles and drove to Rosenort for our 1 pm High Tea reservation at Lily Stone Cafe…
what a delight… we climbed up stairs, went down a narrow hall, and into a beautifully decorated room ready for our tea…
we just happened to get this space, but for a 20% gratuity you can book one of the private rooms for your group… no one wore gloves, but there were pearls, jewellery, and some fancy clothes, lol…
there were so many teas to choose from it took us a while to decide, and everyone enjoyed their picks…
then the tiered stands with a number of items for us to devour arrived, and devour them we did;-)…
they were able to deal with a food issue for one of us, and everything we ate looked lovely and was tasty… although it didn’t appear like a lot of food, we were all full once we’d cleaned the plates…
from there we drove a few kilometres to Lily Stone Gardens where we toured the Gift Shop and the one open greenhouse…
I found a beautiful white dahlia that is now sitting next to the tubers, which I hope will encourage them to get growing, lol…
the drive took just over forty-five minutes each way, and even in the rain and overcast, it was enjoyable… lots of conversation and laughter in both vehicles…
four years ago in April, we arrived on Maui to celebrate my birthday…
I had always wanted to go to Hawaii, but never made it happen until then…
I have been enjoying the memories that have come up in my social media…
on our way into our first hotel, we spotted orchids in the lobby…
we went to the beach to watch the sun set, got our toes in the ocean, found a great spot to watch, settled in to wait, and then had this group of people walk right in front of us to get their pictures, lol…
I have the amethyst heart that I purchased on my bedside table and enjoy seeing it all the time…
one of my favourite memories is of our time at the orchid farm… a huge space bursting with the most beautiful plants, most of which were in full bloom…
it was delightful…
there were fish and sea turtles…
saw cacao trees with cacao pods on them, jacaranda trees in bloom (purple), and the most amazing banyan tree which took up an entire block…
it was an amazing time and we enjoyed every minute… it lived up to all of my expectations and then some… so lucky this happened before covid…
