spent a little time with the last of my bouquet subscription flowers…
I had divided the bouquet into two vases, but they were pretty much done, so I collected the last of the good ones and put them into two small vases…
one in the bathroom and one on the pass-through…
I am already missing the weekly beauties…

saw some lovely flower displays on my walk yesterday…
this house looked nice with the lovely manicured flowerbeds…
I often take a photo of this display that looks pretty throughout the entire summer…
and these flowers made me think more about changing out the grass in the front yard…

went for a ride on one of the Winnipeg Waterways Tour boats yesterday morning…
while we waited to board, saw some ducks and geese and had to take a few pics, lol…
our driver, Pete, shared lots of interesting facts, many I wasn’t aware of, as we travelled along the Assiniboine and Red rivers…
it was fun to see some of the city landmarks from the water…
I was happy to get a few nice photos of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights…
and this one from the back of it…
a lovely treat;-)…

went for a walk around the neighbourhood Friday morning…
was surprised at the huge stacks of sod I spotted at one point, lol… could not figure out where it was all going to go…
lots of flowers and a few people along the way, but no books of interest at either of the Little Libraries I passed…
the weather was lovely though, and I collected a few Poke balls;-)…

I picked beans for my supper a few days ago and had to use the step stool again, lol…
I also brought in the last tomatoes although they weren’t ripe…
I still have to cut the tomato plants down, but haven’t quite got to that piece of work…
it is always an enjoyable and relaxing job to top and tail the beans before cooking them…
and they were delicious…

as I’ve been sitting in the garden reading and enjoying the birds and bunnies around me, I’ve been hearing the Canada geese as they have begun to fly overhead…
I do love listening to their honking to one another as they head north or south, depending on the time of day…
of course, the sad part is that means fall is coming, sigh…

was on the deck reading last evening when a Cooper’s Hawk flew onto the ledge about six feet in front of me…
moved too fast for me to get a photo, but this is where it was…
it flew to the top of the garage, sat there for a few minutes, and then on to the neighbour’s yard…
hope the little birds are okay…

it’s been fun watching the tomatoes grow over the season…
last week they started to turn orange and then red…
a few, closer to the bottom of the planter, were taken off the plant, had a few bites out of them, and I found them on the ground…
I decided to leave them there and a few days later discovered they were completely gone… just an outline left on the stepping stone, lol…
today I went out to pick the ripe ones only to discover that they all had large bruises on them…
decided to compost them, sigh…

the strawberry plant, from last year, is doing very well…
we found a hamper at the store on July 5th, after either the birds or squirrels had eaten the ripe strawberries before we got to them, lol…
I kept the cover on them until a few ripe ones were ready to eat and then after we had those ones, I took the cover off so that the flowers could be pollinated…
as a number of yellow/green berries started to appear, the cover went back on the plant…
on Thursday I could see the ripe berries, through the screen…
removed the cover and picked three beautiful strawberries…
they were so sweet, yum…
