Friday afternoon I took out the solar small Christmas tree lights and put them into one of the flower pots…
wanted to be sure the pics would be able to go into the nearly frozen soil…
I also filled the snowflake with solar mini lights…
they came out very nicely…

the other day I had to clean one of the fish tank pumps…
it was a bit dicey to get the pieces that needed to be cleaned out, but I managed it… hope it will be simpler next time, lol…
the fish appear happy and the tank has already started to clear up…

well, last night, when I went out for a hot tub, I put on my water shoes and toque…
the toque always reminds me of my beloved;-)…
when I’d gone out the night before and climbed up the steps in my bare feet, they were cold;-(…
and so it begins…
I was feeling bad about needing them already, but when I looked at previous times I’d started wearing them it had been towards the end of October, so I guess I shouldn’t be complaining…

in the process of moving the hibiscus and mandevilla, an almost-open bloom fell off…
the next morning I discovered that it was starting to open, even though it was laying in the dirt…
I grabbed it and put it in water and then spent the day watching as it opened and then began to close…
what a lovely treat…
I also found at least five buds on the plant… can hardly wait to see more flowers…

brought the dahlia tubers up from the basement to finish putting them to bed for the winter…
I cleaned off the last of the dirt that was clinging to them, separated them by type, cut off miscellaneous bits, and divided them up…
once they were in paper bags, they went into a box to be stored in the basement and the leftover bits and dirt made their way to the garbage bin…
happy to get that job done and hopeful they will all start to grow come spring;-)…

moved a few plants around in the living and dining rooms…
the mandevilla made its way to the dining room…
and the hibiscus moved to the living room and it might still switch with the monstera…
it will be interesting to see if they will be happy in these new spots as the hibiscus has always lived in the dining room…

we’ve been collecting fish from the pond over the last few days as the temperature is getting lower every day and we don’t want to be dealing with ice…
we started with the three that were in the bathtub pond… they have been in the house for about ten days…
right now we have twenty-four…
they have been collected in dribs and drabs… the first collection was about ten, and then a few at a time, as once they see my housemate walk towards the pond they rush under the bridge… unfortunately, it isn’t a drawbridge, lol…
we are still missing five…
wish us luck;-)…

walked to and from the Park yesterday…
met up with a number of Canada geese, but happily they all ignored me and everyone else on the paths…
noticed that the Assiniboine was very low…
and the path was covered in leaves, pretty…
such a beautiful place;-)…

have had some fun the last few days as I’ve been watching a couple of grey squirrels snacking under the bird feeders…
sometimes they are friendly and other times they fight over the best sunflower seeds, lol…

spent a few hours in the garden on Sunday working towards getting it put to bed for the winter…
pots went into the shed, the sail was removed, umbrellas came down and were put away, chairs and tables were gathered together in preparation for being covered before the weather turns…
rain barrels were emptied and will be flipped over shortly… just a bit left to do;-)…
and then we are on to the pond🤪…
