walked to the Park and around the English and Leo Mol Gardens…
it was very bare, lol…
I came across a Canada goose on the path to the Leo Mol Garden and it wasn’t moving, no matter what I did… I could see another goose on the roof of the Leo Mol Gallery that seemed to be working on a nest… so, possibly its partner…
although you are asked to remain on the path, I ended up walking through one of the beds because I did not want to cause an issue or get bitten by the goose…
I made it across both times, because it was still there when I left 😳…
on Sunday we went for a walk around Assiniboine Park to catch Pokémon… apparently it was a special event around the world… it was hot and sunny…
there were people everywhere… many of them with their heads down, focussed on their phones, with cords connecting to power packs in their pockets, lol…
we walked around the allée that circles the Diversity Gardens… it was fully shaded and there were many people along the way…
from there we walked across the Park to the English and Leo Mol Gardens… it was a long way, lol… we stopped now and then for a rest and sip of our water, and got to walk down one of my favourite paths…
it has been months since I’ve been to the Gardens, so it was a treat… besides all the people, there were lots of flowers in bloom with beautiful water lilies, and frogs, in the English Garden…
the cricket fields had some good items as we headed back to the car…
nice to enjoy a walk, although my feet were a little tired;-)…
shovelled a path across the upper deck on Sunday morning… that way I was able to adjust the solar motion sensor… the squirrels had tipped it down on their trips back and forth…
it has been many, many, weeks since the deck had been shovelled… and in that time, the sun has frozen a number of layers so it was a bit difficult to get it cleared…
later in the afternoon I noticed that a lot of the remaining snow where I shovelled had melted away… so I made another pass…
this time I left a bit of snow to melt there…
my photos suggest that it looked like this in March of 2021… hard to believe, lol…
hadn’t shovelled for a few days so went out on Saturday morning to do the sidewalk so people knew I was alive, lol…
wow… a lot of snow had come down…
besides doing the front sidewalk and a space towards each of the neighbours’ yards for the mail carrier, I also shovel a single path along the driveway to get to the vents for the furnace…
I want to be sure they aren’t plugged with snow, which stops the furnace… not a good look😳…
I walked to the Park today… first time in I don’t know how long… at least a year, and maybe longer than that…
took a bit of self-talk to get out the door… I am certainly feeling braver on the whole with being around other people, but I haven’t walked any distance for a long time…
so happy that I did it… the streets were clear of water… thank goodness… and there were very few people on the sidewalks and paths…
walking through the forest in the Park always brings me joy… and they have new signs with wonderful quotes along the way…
the trail has been renamed Story Trail and is part of the Indigenous Youth Storytelling Program… what a great idea… the trail has obviously been cleaned up and there was even a hut made with fallen branches… I am hoping that it might be covered with leaves as the summer progresses…
going through the English and Leo Mol Gardens was a bit disappointing, although really, considering the weather, what was I expecting, lol… the gardeners were everywhere raking and cleaning up the spaces, but there were very few blooming things… I saw one tree, a few daffodils and maybe a berginia in a few different locations…
the great news was that it was basically empty so I had ample time to stop and look whenever I wanted…
there were many geese and I did spot a few goslings, which was delightful…
I was a bit tired by the time I made it back to the house, so I had a nap…
put on long underwear, an extra vest, mitts over gloves, my Canada Goose jacket, and went out in the extreme cold to shovel a path to the garbage and recycle bins…
I had hoped to put them in the lane for pick up but there was just too much snow… hopefully, next week it will be a bit warmer so I can finish digging the path out all the way to the gate…
thankfully there is a bit of space in both bins so they should be fine for one more week…
there was a huge drift up against the back door and it took a while to get through it…
as I moved further into the yard, the path got narrower… it was cold out there…
it was just wide enough for me to carry out the bags, lol…
sure do miss my beloved, he would have shovelled and snow blowed a great path all the way to the lane, no problem… and had fun doing it, lol… he did love to play with the snowblower…
