recently I wandered around my space and took photos of all the blooming or nearly blooming things…
January and February are often harder months for me and having flowers blooming really lifts my spirits…
so much beauty in this space and I am grateful;-)…

on November 22nd I transplanted the coleus that had been rooting in water… and for a while they grew… then, they all died off…
yesterday I used the soil from one of the containers to plant some morning glory seeds…
also added three sticks so that when they grow there will be a place to climb…
hopefully they will do better than the coleus did…

received three more amaryllis bulbs and got right to getting them in the soil…
used a coffee filter in the bottom of the pot and then added the soil that came with each one…
they look cute all lined up in the sunshine;-)…
as with this one in the living room, which has a bud on it now, they will have a quarter turn each day…

yesterday a good friend stopped by with a few items from a fundraiser…
there were two beautiful poinsettias and a swag…
after our visit the swag went up on the front door… looks good there…
hope it stays up… the swags don’t have any fasteners on the back so it is always dicey to get them up and looking great…
the poinsettias found homes in the dining and living rooms…
now to see if I can keep them alive through Christmas;-)…

pleased to see that two of the orchids are getting new buds… got some nice pictures of the buds on one, while the other wouldn’t cooperate…
makes me very happy as they seem to be liking their new spot…
as of today, all twelve are in the new garden-erie;-)…

well, the coleus has been transplanted…
there were lots of roots when I checked the glass the slips were in… I went out to the garage and brought in four pots and a pail filled with potting mix…
found a plastic container to use as a saucer and planted the 9 different pieces…
they are now on the dining room table in the light so we will see what happens…
at the same time I planted two ivy slips into a small pot which is going to sit on the bathroom window ledge…
more plants;-)…

I’ve been working on a Christmas project and was able to finish the prep for it today… I love it when things work out;-)…
I also spent time in the “garden-erie”… it now houses the majority of the plants… I trimmed orchids and watered everything…
the new light is working well and comes on in the morning and goes off after dinner…
I am trying to find just the right name to describe the space for the garden… it is right between the living and dining rooms… conservatory seems just a bit presumptuous, lol…

spent time this morning with the dahlia tubers…
when I dug them up a while back, I put them in different containers so I would remember which was which…
I think I got them right, lol…
I’ve read a lot of blogs and watched many videos on how to overwinter the tubers… of course the information is all slightly different…
last year only one of the ones I saved was usable, so we will see what happens with this year’s batch…
each type is in a paper bag and the bags are all in a bin that will go into a cool dark place in the basement…
I’ve left a bit of soil around them and not separated any… and I should check on them a few times to be sure they aren’t getting mouldy… maybe I will be able to find the eyes better in the spring…

once the large fish tank was moved into the dining room, I filled the stand with many of the plants from the living and dining rooms…
that spot doesn’t get a ton of light so I had a small lamp sitting there to provide some illumination…
with my grandson’s help, we moved a lamp from the computer room down to this area and the lighting is much better…
I think the plants are going to like it…

this week our group is moving indoors as it is cold outside, so I have been getting the living room organized… another chair has been added so that everyone has a separate place to sit…
a few days ago I spent some time covering a black and white chair so that it fits better in the living room…
it didn’t come out perfectly, but I am happy with the outcome… it is purple, after all…
side tables were moved, pledge applied, plants resituated, cushions replaced…
can’t wait for my friends to see it…
