this morning I spent some time in the garden before heading to work…

we’ve had a fair bit of rain over the last while and it is looking rather lush…

of course the grass needs to be cut, lol…

as I was sitting enjoying the view, the purple finch came by for a snack… such a beautiful bird… also has a lovely song…

I got a few good photos, then left my camera at work…

one of my amazing colleagues picked it up and brought it to me… this is particularly great as I don’t work tomorrow and was going to have to go in and get it;-)…

I am looking forward to spending some quality time in the garden tomorrow;-)…

started my day at 5:15 and got this photo of the sunrise… it really shows the colour perfectly… within an hour it was overcast… lucky to have been up to see it…

a bit later I went out to take a photo of the hibiscus… it suffered greatly when it moved outside and finally has some flowers starting… and while I was there the purple finch popped over to the feeder;-)…

nearly late for my ride because I didn’t want to stop watching the finch flit to and from the feeder…

Wednesday our CSA box portions arrive… we’ve divided it into four portions which is working perfectly…

tonight I made a smoothie with the strawberries and plan on eating the peas and carrots tomorrow… and the purple pepper is gorgeous;-)…

last night met with my friends on the deck… although the temperature was in the 30s, there was a gentle breeze blowing which made us very comfortable…

the purple finch family were back at the bird feeder, and chased off a squirrel…

we watched a huge yellow moon rising while we visited;-)… I didn’t get any photos, just enjoyed the view…

later in the evening I spent some time back on the deck with my camera and tripod getting some pictures of the nearly full moon…

I am always amazed at how quickly the moon moves when you are taking pictures…

after all was said and done, this is my favourite photo…

my new camera is supposed to let me use my phone to click the shutter, but for some reason it just won’t work… hoping to find a way to get that option working and maybe take crisper pics…

had a good sleep in my own bed and spent a restful day recovering from my camping trip;-)…

back to usual patterns and started my day with a fruit smoothie, thanks to the frozen fruit my grandson had picked up while he was house sitting…

lots of tv, reading and napping…

walked over and got my hair cut…

tiniest bit of purple left in it, lol…

it was a beautiful day and I enjoyed the walk… even got a few flower photos in the process… the St. James Biz have done a great job with the planters…

back home I had lunch and did more resting;-)… enjoyed time in the garden, listening to the waterfall…

cooked some pickerel for dinner…

it is always nice to come home…

early this morning watered all the plants in the garden with a bucket… it meant that I got lots of steps in and did a bit of weight training, lol…

summer is nearly upon us…

so enjoy the time to wander around the space and enjoy the beauty…

morning is my best time… by the end of the day I am often just interested in vegging out in front of the tv…

had the most delicious dinner last night…

started with a salad of compressed melon, whipped goat cheese and apple compote, mint, red wine vinaigrette, dill salt, local pea shoots… it was yummy…

and then we had a wonderful chicken breast that was so moist… lemon brined chicken, rhubarb and brown butter sauce, crispy quinoa, beets, Swiss chard…

ended the meal with strawberry shortcake, with a purple flower on it… sugar scone, macerated strawberries, coconut whipped cream, hibiscus and ginger syrup… oh my…

Lyndsay, from Modern Plate Catering, did a magnificent job… she arrived with a chef and a server… they looked after everything…

had some fun in the garden on Saturday… the forecast was for thunderstorms and rain during the day so I got out early to plant the purchases from the day before…

trying to stick to the purple and white theme although the dahlia might be a bit on the pink side;-)…

three pots planted, a few baskets hung, the tomato and mandevilla placed… also brought out the hibiscus…

still need to bring out the Japanese Maple, but going to wait just a bit longer so it doesn’t struggle with the move…

it is looking pretty good… now just waiting to get that back flowerbed cleaned up…

missing my beloved as I work away in the yard…

last night I walked home after having my hair cut, and purposely took a path that would take me by a number of lilac bushes…

I was able to stop at each one and take photos and enjoy the beautiful scent…

tonight when I drove the same path, with all the windows open, the perfume was so delicious… the wind must have been blowing in just the right direction… what a treat…

unfortunately I wasn’t able to bring any home… but I have pictures;-)…

fun in the garden…

finally got around to planting the lobelia and alyssum… the weather may have turned the corner, although it was something like 4 degrees when I got up…

decided to plant in clumps, so all lobelia in some planters and just alyssum in others…

looking forward to watching them grow and seeing how they look…
