yesterday turned out to be quite a fun day…

instead of laying on my bed and watching tv all day I went out with a few friends…

on our way to St. Norbert Farmers’ Market we stopped at La Belle Baguette for some bread…

I haven’t been to the Market for years… it has certainly grown and improved… there are more makers and the main covered building is wonderful… while we were there it poured for about five minutes, and we were under the canopy the whole time…

after an entertaining time there, we went out for lunch… the sky was a bit foreboding and all of a sudden it poured… for another five minutes… by the time we got to the restaurant it had stopped;-)…

great fun… finished the last bits of that lunch for tonight’s supper…

this morning I spent some time in the garden before heading to work…

we’ve had a fair bit of rain over the last while and it is looking rather lush…

of course the grass needs to be cut, lol…

as I was sitting enjoying the view, the purple finch came by for a snack… such a beautiful bird… also has a lovely song…

I got a few good photos, then left my camera at work…

one of my amazing colleagues picked it up and brought it to me… this is particularly great as I don’t work tomorrow and was going to have to go in and get it;-)…

I am looking forward to spending some quality time in the garden tomorrow;-)…

well, the excitement carried on last night… as we were getting ready for bed we almost walked into the kitchen tent where a skunk had taken up residence… we hadn’t taken out the garbage;-)…

it had started raining at 3 pm yesterday afternoon and it didn’t stop until 7:30 this morning… soggy…

I was a bit tentative about going into the tent to make tea when I got up,lol… happily it was gone… I spent the next half hour cleaning up the garbage that was strewn all over…

when everyone else got up we had a lovely breakfast and packed our snack bag before heading down to the boat launch…

we prepped our minnows ahead of time… apparently they should be dried out with salt…

we took a friend of the boys’ and had a great time…

only caught two fish but lots of fun was had… at the end we were fishing from the front of the boat and swimming from the back, lol…

once back at our site, everyone played a game on one of their phones;-)… very unusual as the normal pattern is for everyone to play on their own device…

fun to watch…

supper and a campfire and then early to bed as there were no naps today…

well, the weather has not been particularly cooperative, sigh…

it was a bit overcast when we first got up but we decided to head out as it wasn’t raining…. kept the cover half on so we’d be ready if the rain came, lol…

saw a loon as we were leaving the bay… caught a few fish… sadly, not me… also saw a three-foot sturgeon swim beside us;-)…

spent about four hours on the water before it started to spit… the scenery is beautiful…

came back to the campsite and had a picnic under the canopy…

then there were naps and more games… supper was tacos in a bag… perfect easy prep on a rainy evening…

back inside for the evening… some are watching a movie on a phone and others playing games…

wishing for sunshine tomorrow;-)…

another day has gone by…

up early-ish so that we could get in some fishing before the rain was supposed to arrive…

I sat patiently waiting for pickerel… sadly they didn’t want to play with me today…

the boys swam and there was some fancy kneeboarding…

we had an adventure going through a narrow section of the lake and found a new fishing spot with friends, but it was fairly windy so not much success… I did get to watch an eagle dive and rise up with a fish…

we headed back across the lake and while we were sitting out on the water the skies opened up… amazing how quickly the boys were able to get the cover on the boat and all fastened down… and of course, that is when the rain stopped, lol…

sky was looking mighty fierce though and when the thunder and lightning started up we headed for home…

poured for quite a while so there was reading and napping and phone games and board games in the camper…

rain stopped and we made a lovely dinner of bbq steak with baked potatoes, fried mushrooms and salad…

cleaned everything up and now one has gone fishing off the rocks with a friend, and the other two have gone to visit another site…

I am quietly drinking tea and reading… how lovely;-)…

the rain is gently falling now… which is wonderful because it has been very dry for weeks…

but this morning it was lovely out and I spent some quality time in the garden taking pictures of flowers…

spending time in the garden is rejuvenating for me… there is something so serene and peaceful in this space…

it reminds me of so many wonderful activities we’ve celebrated in this space…

had some fun in the garden on Saturday… the forecast was for thunderstorms and rain during the day so I got out early to plant the purchases from the day before…

trying to stick to the purple and white theme although the dahlia might be a bit on the pink side;-)…

three pots planted, a few baskets hung, the tomato and mandevilla placed… also brought out the hibiscus…

still need to bring out the Japanese Maple, but going to wait just a bit longer so it doesn’t struggle with the move…

it is looking pretty good… now just waiting to get that back flowerbed cleaned up…

missing my beloved as I work away in the yard…

pretty pleased because, thanks to a friend, I might just have found a gardener…

we walked around the front yard and garden and reviewed all of the things that needed to be done… it is quite a list…

at first I thought she was overwhelmed with how much needs to be done, but I mentioned I would be happy if just the garden was looked after…

although it was raining and the garden looks rather sad, she said she felt the serenity of the space…

we made a plan and she is going to get started when she has an opening in her schedule… this might not be for a few weeks, but I am thrilled that the work is going to get done eventually…

before then I’m hoping that someone can come and move some rocks…

so exciting;-)…

we went to bed early last night because we were exhausted…

this morning we woke up twenty minutes before the sunrise… so we dressed quickly, and headed out to an iron bench on the property…

it was cool and very windy but we had fun watching ships and outrigger canoes as well as the sun shining on the clouds, lol…

we came in just as it began to rain… and then we saw five rainbows, one after the other, moving across the sky…

we took it gently and went to Whole Foods for snacks and breakfast items over the next week… always fun to see what items are available at the store in different countries… fresh juice and the view…

lunch and off to Paia… we wandered the town, saw surfers and large waves, tried mahi-mahi and had a quiet drive back…

we stopped for some avocado toast and packaged up a bit of salt for the eggs we picked up earlier… reminded both of us of George’s mom always slipping any excess jam or ketchup or whatever into her bag when we took a trip to the east coast many years ago, lol…

amazingly productive day… out and about for groceries and items for a project… it was rainy and cold;-)…

back home I started two types of soup – chicken and vegetable, as well as zucchini basil… made rice and started red lentil curry…

my grandson arrived mid afternoon and helped with a rather long list of to do items…

he helped bring a mattress up from the basement that I am trying out as a headboard… I’ve been wanting a new headboard for ages… think it might work…

plants were brought into the house and feeders were filled… the printer is working again, a light got hooked up in the kitchen, and the living room window is clean…

he left around three hours after he arrived… I’m exhausted, lol… now for a rest before I finish the soup…
