just possibly Spring might be here…
watched six robins across the street in the field… only managed to catch three together…

they were moving quickly and spent most of the day searching for yummy things to eat…

certainly a sign of warmer weather…

beloved, big girl pants, birds, blessed, eyes, garden, geese, hot tub, moments, nature, red, robins, sunlit, Technology, widow
yesterday I was in the hot tub early in the evening, which is not my usual pattern…
I watched geese flying south in the blue sky…
I also watched a number of birds in the elm tree next door… in the sunlight they looked like they were bright red in colour… many flew from there past the garage…
I stared at one of them for the longest time trying to decide if it was a sunlit robin or something else… because there were so many of them I didn’t think they were robins as usually I see them alone… eventually it flew away…
thinking how my beloved would have been able to provide a certain answer as he had eagle eyes;-)…
as soon as I got into the house I checked my bird book and my bird app (of course I have one) and am pretty sure it was a robin…
but it was exciting for a few moments as I imagined all kinds of very red birds, lol..
here’s the photo that my Merlin Bird ID came up with…

big girl pants, bouquet, dandelions, David Suzuki Foundation, exercise, flowers, knee, robins, Spring, widow
early this morning I caught sight of a couple of robins in the front yard… I’ve heard them recently but these was the first ones I’ve seen… a sure sign of spring;-)…
had another visit with the physiotherapist… my knee is doing very well although the range of motion is not where he would like it to be… he poked and prodded and gave me different exercises to do for the next few weeks…
as I drove up the driveway I spotted the dandelion flowers and chive blooms…

according to the David Suzuki Foundation we should leave the dandelions to help the bee population… well, maybe that’s what I will do…
I think back to the number of times my girls brought me home bouquets;-)…

can you believe this crazy weather…
this morning everything was covered in a light dusting of snow… really, sigh…
dull and overcast for most of the day… sun finally came out about 4:15 but it wasn’t out for long…
walked part way home and saw my first robins of the year… three of them… they moved too fast so I couldn’t get a picture… wonderful to hear their song though…
looked out the back window and saw this little guy…
he was eating some of the bird feeder sunflower seeds… there’s been another squirrel hanging around… got red and gray ones this year…
amazing what you can see if you take a moment to look…

big girl pants, coneflower, flowers, goldfinch, music, poppies, robins, weed
tonight I spent a bit of time in the garden…
sadly, not to plant, just to sit and read…
while I was out there robins were singing and the goldfinch family came by for a snack, and sang for their supper…
while enjoying the music of the waterfall, I also spent time watering… particularly as I haven’t had the energy to plant the rest of the haul from Saturday and Sunday… hoping to keep them alive until Saturday morning when I am sure to get them into the ground or pots…
the pansies that are planted are very happy…
the lily of the valley are blooming and smell lovely…
two exciting things…
the poppies are thinking about blooming… quite slow this year, but I am thrilled that they came back on their own…
and the coneflowers have started to grow… this is also very exciting because I was sure they weren’t going to return… we’ve had them in the garden before but George would pull them out every spring because they look much like a weed…
my plan is to let everything grow for a while, until I am sure it is a weed or a plant I want to keep…

big girl pants, camera problem, changing colours, flickers, little yellow bird, lovely day, purple finches, robins, sparrows, Top Pot Hand Forged Doughnuts, trees, virginia creeper, watching
what a lovely day…
spent some time at the front window this morning watching all the critters outside…
there were flickers, robins, sparrows, chickadees, purple finches, nuthatches and this very cute bird that at first I thought was a goldfinch, but I don’t think it was… one of the neighbourhood squirrels was out as well…
took a walk around the creek and got a few shots of the leaves which are beginning to change en masse… on Thursday as I was driving to work I noticed a small tree at the end of the street and thought I should get a picture of it…
forgot on Friday, so decided to get a few pictures today… in the process realized more than one little tree was putting on its fall coat…
wasn’t out for too long as my battery was low and as I got home my camera lens cover stopped opening… will have to take it in on Monday… sure hope they can fix it as I do love that particular camera…

been hearing robins for a week or so, and finally saw my first one of the year this morning… in fact, there were two of them.. I didn’t get my camera out quick enough and they flew off, but only after flying up into the air and bumping each other’s chest…
being as it is Spring (sort of) I wondered if this was a mating ritual, but after doing a bit of research I think they were fighting over territory… not sure who won, as they both flew off, leaving the Juncos happily snacking…
it was always a fun little contest for George and I to see who saw the first robin… guess I win this year, sigh…
the feeder in the garden has been visited a lot in the last few weeks and this morning there was a large crowd…
I think they were all Juncos but some of them had a decidedly reddish tinge along their backs and tails… sadly they haven’t been still when I’ve had one of the good cameras in my hand so I just got this shot with my phone…
