on November 1st I took down the ghost from the front step… it was difficult, because the sheet had frozen into the step, lol…
then I took the poppy bird feeder that I received as a Christmas gift and tied it to the rail… this was a process, because it was cold and my fingers kept trying to stick to the metal, lol…
I’ve been collecting photos of Halloween displays since the very beginning of October when they started popping up on my walks in the neighbourhood;-)…
here are some that I enjoyed🎃…
decorating for Halloween has certainly become a popular pastime…
the very tall skeletons were cool, but I kind of like the happy displays, more than the scary ones, lol…
the majority of these were taken before the snow landed (and hasn’t left) which has since curtailed my walks;-)…
Saturday, late in the afternoon, after breaking the ice on the pond, we caught twenty-one of the goldfish…
the pond water was filled with leaves and was rather brown and murky…
it was quite the job as, at one point, my grandson went into it barefoot with his pants rolled up to cut down the water lilies and grasses (I think it was about -12°C in the air)…
but that really helped catch a bunch of them that had been hiding under the lily leaves… they were moving slower in the cold, but still snuck out of the net… also, some of the catching was in the dark, lol…
then they sat in pails in the house for hours before getting moved into the three tanks…
we were careful to be sure to keep size and numbers similar in the tanks so that there is sufficient space for all of them…
we thought we had them all, but on Sunday we discovered five more, woohoo…
now, the pumps have been removed from the pond, and it is apparently going into the winter with water in it, lol…
this picture came up on my Facebook memories recently…
I can still remember that day… we were in Courtenay and drove up Mount Washington… there was no one else around as it was summer… we sat at the bottom of the ski hill for a very long time as we were both afraid of heights…
but we decided to go for it…
we got on the chairlift but the person didn’t put the safety bar down… we realized this as we were moving upwards… I think that the bars along the back and beside me, that I was holding onto for dear life, probably had dents from the grip I had on them😳…
there are no pictures because of the death grip… we were both terrified…
when we arrived at the top the staff person didn’t seem that worried about it, but did say they would ensure that the bar was put in the correct position when we descended…
there was still snow on the ground and the views were beautiful, but I was still nervous about going back down…
of course, we had no choice about going down… after being safely secured correctly, we made the trip down and I even enjoyed some of the views, lol…
but, once we made it back to town, we stopped and sat in a coffee shop for quite a while to let our nerves settle;-)…
on March 12, this is how the deck table looked covered in snow and with the very dilapidated old umbrella… and then on the 2nd of April when the new umbrella was installed…
Sunday, the chairs made it onto the deck… and Monday, the table got washed and the chairs set around it…
